Beats headphones have always divided opinion, and in this sense BeatsX are the most "Beats-like" yet

BeatsX review

I get that Beats has a kudos that a company such as JBL is lacking, and that the styling of the AirPods makes them a no-go for many a prospective purchaser. And if you choose the BeatsX headphones for those reasons, you at least won’t find them unpleasant in any way. But if sound quality matters, you can do just as well for far less money by going for the JBL Everest 100s. On the other hand, if it’s techy awesomeness you’re after, the AirPods have got a heck of a lot more of that. In short, the BeatsX headphones are fine, but you can do better than fine. And if you’re determined to get some headphones with Beats emblazoned upon them, the Solo3 cans and Powerbeats3 sporty buds are both far easier to recommend. Buy the BeatsX headphones here from Currys PC World

The W1 chip makes the wireless connection a breeze; Great battery life and range; Stylish and comfortable; Buttons beat Siri for controlling your tunes;

Audio quality doesn’t justify the price; Pick up dirt easily; No automatic pause when you remove a bud;

Beats Powerbeats3 Wireless

The Beats Powerbeats3 Wireless earphones use the Apple W1 chip for superior Bluetooth performance and deliver a highly sculpted, bass-forward audio experience.

Powerful audio performance for bass lovers; Uses Apple W1 chip for quick pairing, better connectivity with iOS devices; Sweat- and water-resistant design; Very secure fit

Insanely boosted bass and sculpted highs aren't for anyone seeking an accurate sound signature; Expensive

Beats PowerBeats 3 review

Solidly built and with a great battery life, the PowerBeats 3 get a lot of things right - but at this price point they need to do a little more than this to make them a worthwhile purchase.

Great battery life; Solid bass response; Good wireless range

A bit bass-heavy; Fit could be better; High price

Beats X Review: Are Apple's Premium Earbuds Worth It

The $149 BeatsX headphones are certainly not going to blow away audiophiles with their sound, they should work fairly well for most folks, especially Apple fans. The flat, tangle-free, balanced cable is more comfortable than the designs of other similar models and is quite functional, while the...

Good fit and noise isolation; Weighted battery/electronic pods on cable; Comfortable earbuds and flat cable for all-day usage; Quick-charge functionality

Cable is too lengthy; Awkward pairing procedure using Android and Windows; Treble and midrange are lacking

Beats X review: Apple's neckbuds for the everyday

Apple's other wireless earbuds might be a better fit for you than the AirPods

Comfortable enough to wear all day; W1 chip makes life simpler for Apple customers; Fantastic noise isolation

Average sound quality; Cable between earbuds is too long; Terrible lint-magnet carrying case

Beats by Dre Powerbeats3 Review

The Powerbeats3 are a good pair of headphones, not great. And unless you get them on a good sale the asking price of $199 is way too much.

No skips; Haven't had any issues with sweat; Ear hooks keep them securely in place; Battery life

Price; Initially have to repair; Ear tips get slippery with sweat
