Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 With Softfocus Lens Review

The Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 With Softfocus Lens is a relatively small, light and inexpensive 135mm lens. The unusual feature of this lens is its softfocus capability . The 135 L has a ring that allows continuous soft focus settings ranging from locked at 0 (none) to 2 with detents at settings 1 and 2.

Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 SF

The Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 SF may be old but it was still able to delivery very good performance figures in all aspects. Nonetheless there´re many lenses including zooms which are capable to deliver similar and even better.

Everything I need in one lens!

This is a great lens! The build seems a bit fragile, but you must understand that this is not part of Canon's premium lens series. Aside from a lens exterior that is more prone to damage, the interior lens glass is still top of the line.

Great Value

I bought this lens just over two years ago as a package deal on three lenses. At first I never used it as I wanted the other two "L" lenses but the deal included all three. One day I put it on my 40D and took it outside with my daughter and two of her friends for an informal Prom shoot.

Fast auto-focus; Superior build quality; Super-sharp images; very versitile lens; replaced several lenses

Great lens at an even better price

Over twenty years after it was designed, I can say with confidence that Canon got it right with this lens. If you are looking for a relatively fast prime lens at this focal length, this is probably the cheapest option to get you in the game.

What can I say that has not already been said This lens is a versatile multitool of a lens. Rather surprising for a prime, you will not believe it until you experience it. I got the lens for a bargain price of 250 euros (the price rating I gave is for the list price - I think all photography...

Sharp; lightweight; awesome bokeh; fast and quiet motor; accurate AF; softfocus feature is a nice addon

None; except the plastic feel

Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 Soft Focus review by psulonen

The lens's main strengths are in the optics and the compact size and discreet appearance. Wide-open sharpness is very good in the center and good in the corners. Center sharpness improves to excellent at f/4 and peaks at f/5.6. Corner sharpness improves to excellent at f/5.6 and peaks at f/8.

Small; cheap; optically excellent; fast-focusing; funky soft-focus effect

Dated build and feature set; hexagonal iris

Great lens to pick up if you can find it cheap used. Easily a match for its big brother in the "L" gang, but not wide open. Very nice soft focus feature, razor sharp when off, dreamy effects when dialed in.

Small; light; razor sharp; although not edge to edge like the big brother "L"

Lens flare is very pronounced even with a hood against even slightly backlit subjects; Build is cheap; Not a lens I would take through a rough outing

This lens is very easy to use and does what the advertisements say. There are 3 levels of softness of this lens - level 0 is no blur, level 1 is a little softness and level 2 is slightly more softness.
