It's just a beautiful quality piece of glass; no noticeable lens distortion or aberration - expensive but you get what you pay for with Canon..
Very expensive
Regardless of brand, two f/2.8 zooms have for many years dominated professional photographers' camera bags, covering the 24-70mm and 70-200mm ranges. In Canon's case, these are both no-holds-barred lenses that are designed without compromise to meet the needs of the most demanding users.
Excellent sharpness; Build Quality
Slight colour fringing at short focal lengths
it's the best general Canon lens ever. It's good for everything- reportage, weddings (you have just one lens- it you can use it for the whole day), family and children photography. Food photography is also ok with this, but anyway i would want some macro lens for the best food pics.
Sharpness, weather resistant, overall quality of the build, images; Just spectacular optics

Sharp, fast, compact, and durable—this lens is a pro's best friend.

While photo enthusiasts suffer in the throes of GAS (gear acquisition syndrome)-endlessly buying hot new cameras and lenses, reselling them, and buying the next cool thing-professional photographers stick with what works.
The EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is a near-flawless lens with optics that come very close to matching a set of top-quality primes. With fast, accurate autofocus and weathersealed construction, it's difficult to find any really serious faults at all.
Professional and serious enthusiast photographers looking for the best possible optics in an 'everyday' standard zoom lens.;
Photographers who shoot a lot at close focus distances;
