Amazing lens

This is really a great lens, shoots great pics in low light without using the flash, and gives pictures a strong depth of field, compared to a kit lens. Really makes the subject stand out. Amazing value and a must have for any photographer.

I would call it Canon's secret weapon, it's cheap and it's very good optically. You could use it as a short portrait lense on Digital SLR due to it's large aperture and 1,6x50 focal length.

Nifty 50

After all the recommendations for the 50mm I finally got it and wow it's sharp. I really don't shoot people but I might start more with this lense. If you dont have this lense your missing one of the best deals on canon lenses out there.

Inexpensive; Light; Sharp; Worth every penny

All plastic; No metal Like 1st gen

Best lens I ever bought

This is the cheapest lens I own and yet it's the one I use the most! Great for portrait work and low light situations! The 1.8 aperture gives great background blur.

A revelation

Having used a 18-200mm kit lens I was unprepared for the difference that F1.8 makes. Amazing value for money and an ideal "first lens" to buy after having a kit lens.

Easy to use; Compact
