Great value!

I debated about purchasing this lens becuase of the plastic build quality, but I have been amazed at the sharpness and quality of the pictures - particularly for portraits. The super fast F1.8 lets you get that nice, short depth of field & bokeh, without spending $$$$.

tack sharp; quick focus; small & light

a bit loud; too much plastic

Adverage lens

I bought this lens specifically for macro photography. I have been using this lens for a month now on my Canon T 3i. I find this lens to have a very cheap feel to it and I don't think it would take much abuse. Thats ok because with the low cost of the lens it could easily be replaced.

Consistent Output; Easily Interchangeable; Inexpensive; Lightweight

Poor construction; Slow AF; Slow Focus

Great value for the money.

I wanted a bright lens, and was looking for a 30mm (the crop factor of T2i transform it into a 50mm). As the price was high on 30mm, I bought this 50mm and will not repent. It seems fragile because it's all plastic but has served.

Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MK2: cheap, but cheap for a reason

you might wish you'd paid more for the 1.4, especially if you break it

very sharp and a good lens to buy for beginners

feels very cheap, and can break easily; loud AF motor can alert subjects

Cheap as chips but still flashy

Anyone who has an interest in photography using SLR's and particularly Canon bodies should take a look at this prime 50mm lens. Extremely inexpensive for what it is, it delivers sharp images and does exactly what it says on the tin.

Cheap; lightweight; sharp pictures

Noisy motor; lack of zoom

Good compromise

This is a reasonable compromise beween a big aperture and big money. The autofocus is a bit slow and hard to get use to, but when it's right it's really right. At the right price, it's a good value lens.

Not up to the mark

EF 50 mm f/1.8 II is not up to the mark. Auto focus is not accurate and took more time during low light shoot. I you love to record video then this lens is not for you as during every video recording you will get a background sound which will disturb the actual voice of people .

Nifty Fifty, Canon 50mm Prime lens!

This canon lens is one of the cheapest and most reliable lenses any canon photographer can have.

This lens allows for great quality; great focal length; really high apeture; and autofocus

It has a plasticy feel and there is no image stabilization

Very Good For Amatures

Bought this lens with a 50D body instead of going for the 50D lens Kit.
