Canon EF 85 f1.8 USM

Finner inget

A great lens to own. You will still be using this wonderful glass into your 4th or 5th Camera upgrade... in the next decade or so. It's that good. It's like having a 50mm lens on a cropped 1.6x sensor. Same FOV.

Bang great AF accuracy with manual overide; No moving parts; no focus barrel movements; Weird but wonderfull lens hood; (Try attaching the hood in reverse and let them go crazy trying to figure out what kind of lens you got; because it looks...weird! Try it it; its fun.

Easily spotted by photographer friends and asked to be borrowed..; annoying

Wow!

I have really only had this lens for a day, so perhaps i am still bedazzled by its awesomeness...i haven't shot in any overly bright settings yet so have experienced the vingetting or abberation that others have commented on.

sharp; beautiful bokeh; easy to use; quiet

none so far

Canon EF 85 mm f/1.8 USM

If you own a Canon 35-mm reflex camera nowadays your selection of classic portrait 85 mm lenses is really large. The list can be started by the expensive but splendid EF 85 mm f/1.2L USM II – a lens you would look for in vain in other systems.

well-made casing; very good image quality in the frame centre; good or decent image quality on the edge of APS-C sensor and full frame; lateral chromatic aberration corrected splendidly; low distortion; slight astigmatism; sensibly low vignetting on APS-C; fast and efficient autofocus; good...

noticeable longitudinal chromatic aberration; modest accessory kit; lack of repeatability of particular specimens

Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Review

Far cheaper than Canon's f/1.2 equivalent, but still a mighty good performer for a more than reasonable price

Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Review

Rather than testing Canon's f/1.8 lens we might have looked at the f/1.2L version instead – were it not for the £2,640 price tag. This is a mind-bogglingly hefty sum that puts the lens well out of reach for most photographers.

Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Lens Review

Looking for a good value in a small, light, great performing, fast lens ? Try the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Lens. The Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Lens is relatively inexpensive but yields very good image quality. It is reasonably sharp wide open, but really shines from f/2.8 on.
