A hidden gem on the non L lineup

I am very happy with this lens. I shot a party outdoors, dusk, mosquito time. The photos were brilliant and looked bright. Was in full auto and they were mostly wide open, f/2.0 f1.8 Was very impressed with the color at this low light. Using a 5D mk2.

A Real Value; Lightweight; Nice Bokeh

Minimum Focus Distance

Great lens for the price

A great high aperture lens for a great price. Alot cheaper than the L offerings and alot more usable. L quality lens without the price tag.

Easy To Use; Excellent In Low Light; Fast Shutter Speed

Affordable FF portrait lens

This is the last relatively cheap prime in Canon's range. It's getting extremely long in the tooth now, so expect to see an STM, rounded blade update in the next couple of years. If they put IS on it, add at least another hundred quid to the new version, when it arrives.

Glad to have added this lens to my collection

Out of all my lenses, this is one of my favorites. Not as sharp as I thought it was going to be but that could be on my end. I think my camera needs to be calibrated. You can get a great dept of field with this camera and takes beautiful portrait photos.

Great low-light lens

I was considering the newer 85mm f/1.4... but for me, the price point wasnt worth it. Many people like bokeh... which is fine. I like to shoot in low-light situations. This lens was superb when used on a Canon EOS 6D Mark II.... Autofocus was instantaneous. Very impressive.

My Main Thang!

My first primes lens was the nifty fifty (50mm 1.8) . I absolutely loved it. My next lenses had to be the 85mm 1.8 lens. I read the reviews and decided to get it. Wow! This lens is so sharp and focuses very accurate and quickly. Now given...

Fast auto-focus; Superior build quality; Super-sharp images

good price

This is a well-priced lense that according to online image samples is one of canon's best for portrait photography. It has imperceptible differences with the L-version, enough to make this lense well worth the price for quality and value for money. It's the cheapest @ kalahari.
