18-55mm Image Stabiliser Kit Lens

The previous reviews for this item seem to be for the "old" kit lens. The item reviewed here is the Image stabilised version of this lens. It is the kit lens for the Canon EOS 450D. This is one of the most under-rated EFS lenses canon makes.

very good optics at 18mm; Image stabilisation works very well.

Slow Auto Focus; comparatively poor optical quality at longer ranges; looks and feels cheap

Mediocre Lens!! (always under utilizes your camera performance)

This lens came with my 550D but does it not offer sharp and crispy pictures, it is good lens for Family pictures and it will somehow fill all the megapixels in your DSLR but results are just normal. Do not get trapped with this kit lens, buy a body and go for 50mm f1.8 instead.

EXCELLENT LENSE

This is an excellent lense for any photographer looking for a good, standard lense for shooting landscape shots. Or if you simply want to be able to

Less is More

My Canon T1 came equipped with an EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens. Right away, I got fantastic results with this combination. The lens (when paired with the T1) is as simple/automatic as can be, or if so inclined, as complex as you want to be.

excellent kit lens

My Canon Digital Rebel came with this lense. I would recommend that if you are planing to buy a Cano

Value; Sharpness; great for lanscape and sky pictures

Not long enough (not enough zoom); hard to pull in some subjects

Does IS REALLY matter?

I suggest this lens because it isn't too hard on the pocket. and combined with the 55-250 IS it would provide a easy to carry IS kit, and would not cost to much. It is a very nice lens for beginners. If i got to do it again i would.

Well to sum it up quickly YES; The IS System is very helpful in low light situation; Helps provide a very sharp picture compare to the Non-IS version of this lens

No real noticeable weakness as of yet; Focuses fast (for the price) and no back or front focus problems.

Get lens for everyday use.

This is a typical Canon lens, bundled with many of their DSLR cameras. It provides variation without spending a lot of money, and the quality of photos is excellent.

Can do close up photos, as well as wide angle; provides a lot of variation

Plastic parts; but for the money it is just right

Very Good Kit Lens

This lens is a kit lens but it's still very good, especially for a kit lens. Here are some more detailed pros and cons from my use of this lens: Pros: -Very light, granted it is mostly plastic-Sharp photos (especially in RAW mode)-Decent walk around lens-Image StabilizationCons: -Build quality isn't...

Easily Interchangeable; Good IQ; Lightweight; Sharp Focus
