A great 'kit' lens

This is a great little addition to my kit - it has a really positive zoom - doesn't slip when camera is tilted - it produces good sharp images with great colour reproduction. Lightweight too so easy to carry with me.

Excellent distance lens

Great for shooting sports and anything a bit further away. Even if the subject still looks far away once the pic has been taken, you can zoom and crop still with immaculate detail.

Great lens for the price.

Using a 12mm extension tube with this lens enabled high quality images from 15 metres, using a Canon 200D.

The Lens You Must Have ....

Being a proud of owner of Canon EOS 500D and this lens makes me overwhelmwed with the output of the photos that I am clicking. 10X Zoom is the best and the clarity of the picture taken is so great, each and every detail can be identified. This lens is must to have when you are using a SLR.

So far so good

Pretty great lens for the price. I had been looking for a while at the 70-300 range, but none featured IS. I read a lot of reviews and watched tons of videos. This one seemed to be the best, i was willing to pay the $250 they charged on Amazon, but at $170 this was a steel.

Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM

I purchased this used on Ebay for 138.00. I have used the ISII version of this lens. While I was impressed with that lens I must say this one is even sharper. I purchased this STM model to complement the kit 18-55stm that came with my SL1.

sharp; silent and built solid

Really nothing so far

this lens is a bit similiar story to 18-55 STM. it hits the sweetest spot of size and weight for this focal range - just enough heavy for good handholdability, not too heavy to not want to carry it around.

inexpensive; size and weight spot on for a Rebel body and this focal range; good shapness until some 180mm

lack of microcontrast

Features and handling The unusual 55-250mm focal length range of this telephoto lens butts up neatly with Canon's 18-55mm standard kit lens. Between them, the two optics offer EOS users an uninterrupted range of 18-250mm – that's 29-400mm once you factor in the EOS system 1.6x crop factor.

Good lens great price for hobbyists

New to photography. I pick up new hobbies at whim so I didn't want to spend a small fortune on camera accessories immediately but knew I had a need for this type of lens. It is noisy but I'm ok with that. It took a little getting used to but it really seems to read my mind.
