Canon EOS 7D Mark II review: King of quality

To pinch the well-known slogan: good things come to those who wait. And wait we have. For the Canon EOS 7D Mark II is a DSLR that has shunned the typically frequent product cycle, instead taking five whole years to calculate its position in the market.

Fantastic image quality including to high ISO sensitivities; rugged and weather-sealed build quality; new 65-point autofocus system is brilliant; stacks of customisation; battery outperforms official quota

No tilt-angle screen; no touch controls; live view autofocus not always on point; not a huge image quality upgrade over original 7D; no 4K video; no Wi-Fi built-in

As you might guess from its name, the new Canon EOS 7D Mark II replaces the Canon 7D. It therefore assumes its place above the APS-C format Canon 70D and below the full-frame Canon 5D Mark II in the Canon SLR line-up.

Canon 7D Mark II Review: The Best DSLR For Sports And Wildlife, But That's All

When the Canon 7D came out in 2009, it soon became one of the most popular DSLRs ever. It was fast, rugged, with great video features, all for a whole lot cheaper than the more pro-oriented 5D Mark II.

Canon EOS 7D Mark II Review

Canon EOS 7D Mark II Review - The Canon EOS 7D Mark II is a DSLR five years in the making, but with a 10fps continuous shooting rate and 65 cross-type AF points it could well be the perfect camera for the enthusiast sports and wildlife photographer

APS-C adds extra mm to telephoto lenses; Newly-designed 20.2MP sensor; Lightning-fast AF system

Lack of either a vari-angle or touchscreen LCD; Lack off connectivity options

Canon EOS 7D Mark II

The EOS 7D is probably the best APS-C DSLR which Canon has made.

Canon 7D Mark II Review

The Canon 7D Mark II is a fantastic DSLR. While it has some video shooting chops to it, the camera is first and foremost a sports- and wildlife-shooting beast.

Goondu review: Canon EOS 7D Mark II

It has taken some time for Canon to update its EOS 7D. The new Mark II version of the digital SLR workhorse will be a welcome update for professional photographers who have used it for sports, action and nature shots since 2009.

Canon EOS 7D Mark II DSLR Review

The Canon EOS 7D Mark II follows the legacy 7D, which was debuted way back in 2009. Rather than being a simple update of the 7D, the 7D Mark II is a newly designed system based on an APS-C sized sensor.

Absolute ripper of a DSLR

Just started using my new Canon EOS 7D MKII, an update to my 60D & 70D. I thought the 70D was fantastic but was blown away by the 7D MKII. Blisteringly fast Auto Focus and 10 frames per second, it's a machine gun after the 70D's "mere" 7 frames per second.
