Canon EOS R

The demand for smaller and lighter cameras continues to grow, and the Canon EOS R is one of the better compact cameras meeting that demand.

Small camera, big performance

Don't be fooled by the light weight and diminutive size. This is a full-frame 30.3 Megapixel sensor, with top ISO performance and Dual Pixel CMOS AF. In other words, it offers big camera performance and results.

Look at the lens

The EOS R is an interchangeable lens camera, which works beautifully with new generation RF lenses which have been developed to work at the optimum distance from a full-frame sensor.

A sensor built around precision

The EOS R boasts a full-frame 30.3 Megapixel Dual Pixel CMOS AF sensor. What does that mean? Sharper stills...MUCH sharper! This is thanks to the advanced phase detection system, DIGIC 8 processing, and in-camera Digital Lens Optimizer.

Vivid video

In terms of the 4K 10-bit resolution video footage you'll capture, you'll have to see it to believe it. The EOS R System within this compact camera is HUGE on cinematic quality, and you won't believe what you can do at the touch of a button.

Easy to use

A smaller camera that's big on ease of operation; the EOS R achieves that through smart features like a multi-function touch bar, high resolution electronic viewfinder and vari-angle screen. Taking great shots has never been easier!

A connected camera

Share your shots with the world, thanks to Bluetooth paired with your smartphone, or built-in Wi-Fi so you can send to the cloud in an instant.

Canon EOS R Mirrorless Camera with RF 24-105mm f/4L Lens Kit , 30.3MP Full-Frame CMOS Sensor with Adapter Ring for EF/EFS Lens , Built-In Wi-Fi & Bluetooth

I am a serious amateur photographer and this is my first full frame camera (previous was canon 80d) Pros: This camera takes sharp pictures with ease. Build feels quality. Touch screen focus, and taking shot, makes taking photos from awkward angles a breeze.

Canon EOS R Review

The EOS R is Canon's first attempt at a full-frame mirrorless camera, and its release heralds an exciting future for the company based around the new RF lens mount. As a stand-alone camera, the EOS R turns in a solid performance that can at times impress yet on aggregate it comes up short.

Canon EOS R review: Off to a flying start

This is a cracking debut to the mirrorless camera market for Canon. It won't be a camera for every professional out there – not enough body controls, not enough frames per second and not enough battery life – but for enthusiasts who simply want the very best image quality it has to make the...

Fantastic image quality; Equally good video quality; Particularly impressive autofocus function

Innovative touch bar is less than innovative; Battery life is underwhelming

Canon EOS R review

Capable, customisable, but compromised. The Canon EOS R is a great proof of concept, with fantastic features such as the new Control ring and M-Fn Bar, and offers tangible upgrades to existing EF and EF-S lenses.

Great control customisation; Dual Pixel AF with 5,655 AF positions; Fully articulating screen

No in-body image stabilisation; Cropped 4K video; Single SD card slot

The Canon 6D was my first grown-up camera, back in 2013. I loved how Canon's colors looked like the best version of reality, and how sharp its glass was, and the 6D was the most affordable way to get into full-frame photography.

A great first step for Canon towards the right direction. Worth the pickup with the mount adapter if you have other Canon lenses. It would probably be worth waiting to see what the future brings for the EOS R.

Easy and comfortable to grip

Imperfectly amazing

One caveat off the bat. A lot about how you feel about this camera, is likely going to depend on what camera you are coming from, or intend to upgrade to in the near future. Personally, I am an amateur hobbyist, Ive used Canons Rebel line (T2i and T6i) and was looking to upgrade to a better body...

Love It! - shot a full month with camera

1) I am a semi-pro. I sell enough work at shows and galleries around town to buy my gear, beer, and mad money. I do not consider myself a full pro as I do not make a living from photos. I shoot landscape, urban & former sports.

EVF Customizable buttons Touch AF!!! WYSIWYG Weather sealing; I've shot this in snow and rain the past month with 0 issues. Lens shutter when changing lens; This is well thought by C. R lens adapter works perfectly with all lens.

R lens are pricey currently; Give it some time and the SIgma's and Tamrons will release R compatible lens; My current fav lens is the Tamron 15-30 beast EVF and live menu drain the battery faster, but that is expected. Has yet to fill my car with gas
