Canon EOS R5

The EOS R5 from Canon gives us a world-first feature, as well as many other standout points that make this a must buy for the serious photographer - or even videographer!

World first video

This is the headline grabbing feature in the R5; it's the world’s first interchangeable lens digital camera with 8K movies - that's four times the detail of 4K!

Time-lapse movies

If you want to be creative using time-lapse you can do so in 8K, 4K and HD.

Amazing still shots

The still shots will be just as awesome as the video, with the ability to take amazing 45-megapixel photos at up to 20 frames per second. These shots are further optimised with 100% frame coverage.

New-Efficient-File-Format

Say goodbye to the traditional 8-bit JPG file. Canon's HEIF file format delivers a 10-bit compressed image file for high quality results with better colour reproduction.

Advanced face and eye detect

For better portrait shots, the R5's enhanced face and eye detect will give you the results you're after.

If it's wildlife you're snapping, this model features eye, face and whole body detect of our furry friends.

Smart and stable

The advanced AF is programmed using deep-learning artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, Canon's world-leading in-body image stabilisation works with a lens's own Image Stabiliser to provide up to 8 stops of protection against camera shake.

A processor with the X Factor

The R5's unrivalled speed and precision is driven by a stellar processor: the DIGICX.

Canon EOSR5 Body EOSR5BB review

Canon’s highly-specified mirrorless all-rounder is feature-filled and built to last. It produces extremely sharp, high-resolution 45-million-pixel images, while being capable of recording both 8K and 4K video.

Canon EOS R5 review: An absolute powerhouse

This full-frame mirrorless camera is an absolute powerhouse, delivering top image quality, autofocus and in-body stabilisation performance. There are some hiccups with high-end video recording overheating, the body-only asking price is high, and the competition from Sony is strong. All said, though, the R5 is the go-to model in this line-up, improving upon the company's outgoing DSLR series and showing that you're in very safe hands indeed.

Supreme autofocus modes - the tracking for humans/animals is impressive; 12fps mechanical burst; Super-detailed 45-megapixel images; In-body image stabilisation is excellent;

Overheats in high-end video modes - will limit in-camera record time; Easy to move focus point by accidental screen touch; It's obviously pricey; CFexpress card adds to cost;

Canon EOS R5 review

Hannah Stryker / Review Geek The iPhone 14 is the latest iteration of Apple’s flagship device. Since its launch, the iPhone has set the standard of what a smartphone is, what it does, and how it looks. Fifteen years later, it’s still doing that.
