Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS

Pros : Small, smooth, and easily pocketable; Smart Auto makes scene choices for you; Big 3-inch LCD; Good 11x14-inch prints from ISO 100 to 800; Night Scene mode; Full HD video.

Small and smooth design makes it very pocketable; Multiple colors available; Plenty of optional modes if you want them; 4x wide-angle zoom with optical image stabilization; Smart Auto makes Scene settings choices for you; Good 3-inch LCD; Well-placed controls; Full HD video; Dedicated movie record

Buttons may be too small for those with large hands; Color shift in yellows makes some colors seem muted; Some noticeable chromatic aberration at wide-angle; Slightly lower-than-average battery life; High-speed burst wasn't quite as fast as advertised in our tests; Plastic center piece feels

Canon Ixus 115 HS

It's not easy to make a mid-range camera stand out from the competition, and yet the market for £150 to £200 cameras is key to many manufacturers' success.

High-quality build and materials used; Good picture quality up to 800 ISO; Good picture quality at telephoto settings; 1080p HD video mode with sharp picture quality; Easy to use

Lens could be sharper at wide-angle settings; No stereo sound or optical zoom in video mode; Could be more responsive; Low-def screen; Flat buttons set flush into the casing aren't always practical

The PowerShot ELPH 100 HS ($199) is the entry-level model in Canon's stylish and compact ELPH lineup. It's the follow-up to the PowerShot SD1300 IS, which came out on top in our 2010 Budget Camera Shootout .

Canon is the best of the best

Photo quality is amazing (Like ALL Canon cameras), it has hundreds of settings and features. Definitely the best camera for the price! I suggest an 16GB or higher SD card, because you will not want to put this camera down, so much fun to use!

Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS Review

Check out my full review of the Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS (also known as the IXUS 115 HS). The camera is the most affordable ELPH in Canon's 2011 camera lineup but still packs the same 12 megapixel CMOS used in more expensive models, a 3 inch LCD and Full HD 1080p movie mode.

Shot-to-shot speed – 1 shot every 1.6 seconds, very fast, Flash recharge time using a fully charged battery – 4 seconds, decent, Optical zoom speed (from wide-angle to telephoto) – 1.5 seconds, very fast, Small and stylish, well-built camera; very legible display, Lots of scene modes; useful...

Small navigation pad and zoom controller; No manual exposure controls; 3 inch display is low in resolution and it shows; No optical zoom and continuous AF while recording movies; No automatic ‘sweep' panorama mode; No high-speed burst mode at full-resolution; Slight color fringing and prominent...

Canon IXUS 115 HS

Looking for an uncomplicated snapshot camera that will slide easily into a top pocket to be carried around at all times and whipped out when that random photo opportunity presents itself?

Good value given the build; feature and performance; large LCD screen; better than expected noise-free results at higher light sensitivity settings

Nothing much in the way of manual control; lack of any handgrip at all; familiar budget digicam bugbears such as pixel fringing

Canon Ixus 115 HS review

The Ixus brand is usually associated with luxury rather than good value, but Canon has combined both in this latest entry-level model. Its curved metal body looks gorgeous, and it's backed up by some impressive specs including optical stabilisation, a 3in LCD screen, an HDMI output and 1080p video...

Canon Ixus 115HS

If I keep saying it long enough I might believe it, it's not pink, it's not pink it's purple. Here I am looking at one of Canon s latest Ixus cameras, the 115HS . Its purple but I am very pleased to say that is only one of the colours it comes in.

CANON Digital Ixus 115 HS - silver

I looked long and hard for a digital camera that had both excellent quality in taking stills and shooting HD video. I wanted these features, but in a camera that was compact enough to fit in my pocket (otherwise I knew it wouldn't get used as much) while I was out and about.

Price; quality-of both stills and Full HD video; compact size; ease of use; design/style

Can't think of any
