I travel extensively and I always take two cameras. I have a DSLR which I use with a telephoto lens most of the time. And I want to always have a back-up camera. This Canon PowerShot SX620 fits the bill of what I want a backup camera to do.

We purchased this a couple of weeks ago for our upcoming trip to Ireland. It looks like it will work out perfectly. I love the small size and the photos are very nice. Great price and great service for the price. We received it within a few days.

I wanted to like this camera, having researched it to death including on-line videos by a couple of camera enthusiasts. It is extremely well made and for its size amazingly functional. I wanted it for travel convenience, rather than having to strap on my years-old Fuji X100.

Took camera to remote area for camp. No 110 available for charging battery. Seems you need to remove battery from camera, put it in the 110 charger, and get an inverter to change 12 volt to 110 from your cigarette lighter port in your vehicle.

Ok, we have phones and iPads etc, but this is a camera and it does have more functions. How well it will perform for the money really depends on how much you want to explore and use those functions. I bought a hard case to protect this, a large storage disk or two and then off we go.

I have now purchased my second SX620HS. The first was bought unwittingly on the way out of Sydney 4 years ago as a last minute travel camera. It took no time to set up and charge the battery ready for walks around Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, England, France and Germany.

25 x optical zoom in a compact camera is wonderful for carrying everywhere and having it ready to take images of butterflies and other insects. It works as I had hoped. Focusing is all automatic and it has worked well in most cases. The picture quality is good.

HUGELY DISAPPOINTED with this camera. The pictures are not as sharp as they should be, and the photo quality is poor as well. Regretting purchasing it. Has watched and read various reviews before buying it, but now I think Canon's quality has greatly reduced, or I received a defective piece.

I bought this mainly to record videos as I had read that they were good quality. Don't really see any difference to my iPhone 6s. Photo quality isn't great either but it makes a good little starter camera for someone and is really compact for carrying out and about.

It has a decent number of options and effects. You can actually get a shot of the moon with this thing! Good focus and stabilization when zoomed in.
