Over all I am really happy with the scanner, within 10 mins I had it working and scanning away. . When the paper doesn't jam it flys thorugh the work converting straight to pdf, easy peasy. It handles A4 no problem in the feed but the autofeed isn't so happy with non uniform sizes.

) In the office and pro mode there are numerous adjustments one can make before scanning which is handy for poor quality origina

I bought this item when they first hit the market years ago, bought another because I was use to the software and did not want up hill battle learning new. That said the scanning rate auto paper feed is way below advertised specs at 300dpi your looking at about 4-6 sheets per minute.

good document scanner

A common complaint is this is not a duplex scanner. Actually, for a $200 scanner, duplex scans are quick and easy, but the documentation does not tell you how to do them. Here's the trick. When you click "scan" the "file save settings" dialog box pops up. Make sure "show addpage dialog" is checked.

ADF scanner with flatbed option for things that won't go through an ADF; For most documents, I use "office mode," PDF output with high compression, 300dpi (200 is only slightly faster, slightly smaller file size, but noticeably worse image quality), skew correction on (config>other).

I have absolutely no complaints about the scanner, but the documentation is terrible (hence 4 not 5 eggs); The on-line help has no index or TOC, although it does have a search function.

Good bit of Kit

I will admit that when I first read about this scanner I was hopeful but sceptical, that said have had the scanner for a week now, feel that this is a very good purchase, I have started to archive a lot of old paperwork and am benefitting from the time that I have saved.

Too bulky

It seemed to do fine but I travel in my job and this was way too bulky. I need something smaller and portable. I will just have to keep looking.

Epson WorkForce GT-1500

The Epson WorkForce GT-1500 ($349.99 direct) represents a new direction for Epson. As the name implies, this scanner is office-centric rather than photocentric, and it's aimed at small offices rather than any of Epson's usual target markets: home users, graphic artists, and photographers.

Low price for a flatbed document scanner; Scans directly to searchable PDF files

Automatic document feeder (ADF) scans one side of the page only; Manual duplex feature is hidden and somewhat cumbersome; Slow

Great purchase price!

Perfect for small project scans because of the medium speed but great for small office space. Not network cabable.

Like it!

The scanner is much quicker than our old one, and the quality is better. The price point is right. I do wish we were able to connect it to our network though.

This is a great value for a flatbed scanner with a sheet feeder. I use this in a home office and the sheet feeder is great for regular documents but the flatbed is indispensable for odd or delicate jobs (like photographs, receipts on their own or taped to a page).
