Fitbit Alta HR

The hardest thing to predict about a fitness tracker when you buy it is how long you'll actually use it. Many buyers leave theirs to be forgotten in a bedside table after a few months of use.

Slim; comfortable design; Accurate heart-rate monitor; Excellent auto-recognition and recording of activities; Sleep Stages and Sleep Insights are important improvements to overall sleep data; Great battery life

No connected GPS; Not easy to see heart rate during a workout (unless heart rate is your default screen); Nighttime heart-rate data and Sleep Stages separated on two different graphs; Doesn't integrate with Apple's HealthKit

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The best activity tracker is the one you'll actually wear every day, otherwise there's no point in buying one at all. Fitbit's new $150 Alta HR is the one most people would wear not just every day, but all night-and that's worth every penny.

Fitbit Alta HR Review

Alta HR is a great option for someone that wants basic activity and sleep tracking features, but also wants a wrist heart rate monitor.

Stylish; comfortable and customizable design; Built-in wrist heart rate monitor; Solid activity and sleep tracking; Access to robust Fitbit app

Not waterproof; Charges with proprietary cable; No music controls; Battery life could be better; Display has terrible visibilty in sunlight

Tiny – great software, great hardware too!

Super small and light, this is the first device that I'm wearing on my opposite wrist as a pure tracker and not as a watch replacement.I've gone through multiple watch replacement models and I just don't like any of them enough to give up a well-made timepiece.

Tiny; HR Tracking; Accurate

Not waterproof; tap to touch confuses some..

The Fitbit Alta HR doesn't offer much of an improvement over the existing Charge 2, and in fact you might struggle to notice any real difference at first. However, the more compact design and improved screen sensitivity is definitely a step up over last year's tracker.

Instant feedback; HR sensor; Customisable design

Review: Fitbit Alta HR

Occasionally, a Beckenbauer, Ennis-Hill or Phil Neville will arrive with the combined talents of an entire team. But most of the time, all-rounder means almost.
