Underrated, Under-loved

This lens is the Rodney Dangerfield in Fuji's lens line. Not the fastest, not the widest, people rush on past to the 14mm 2.8, or to the 23mm 1.4. Mistake. If you're a prime lens shooter, there's a place for a 28mm equivalent lens, and f2 is fast enough.

Sharp; light; small; contrasty; fast enough; core focal length

Won't get you no respect; if you're a zoom person; it doesn't make great sense for you

compact and ready to go

"This is perhaps my favourite XF lens. While my natural field of view is closer to a 35mm, a 28mm-equivalent has better DOF. So its a bit of a takeoff, however, compared to the more recent XF lenses, the 28mm is very compact and light.

A must-have for your Fujifilm Camera System

Excellent piece of glass for my X-Pro 1, it is sharp and fast... love it.

very nice, and compact lens

The lens is great. Very sharp and hardly any distortion. The one thing that could be improved is the cap that comes with the lens hood. The cap is supposed to cover the lens hood whenot using the lens. The hood however will not stay on. It keeps falling off even when the lens is in the camera bag.

Lightweight

Fujifilm XF 18mm F2 R

The Fujifilm XF 18mm F2 R is one of the oldest lenses in the XF line-up, and optically one of the worst-performing, with significant distortion and chromatic aberrations, plus a lack of center and particularly edge sharpness when shooting wide-open at the faster apertures.

Not as good as the 35MM

Wanted to love it due to the small form factor, reminded me of my Panasonic GF1 with 20MM pancake lens combo, but did not have the image quality i was looking for. If small size matters, go with this lens, if your looking for quality go with the 35MM.

Small form Factor

Slow focus

Fujinon XF 18mm f/2 R review by PeteD

This lens seems to get a bit of negative press. Yes the image quality is only very good if not stellar. Some CA and the corners don't reach the levels of the centre. And yes the 35 f1.4 is optically better but given the 18f2 is small and fast it's a lens that sits on my xe1 a fair amount.

it's small and it's fast; Image quality is good

REVIEW: Fujifilm Fujinon XF 18mm f/2 R

Fujifilm XF 18mm f/2.0 R This lens is one of three introduced with Fujifilm's X-Pro1 interchangeable lens digital camera. It offers an angle of view equivalent to a 27mm lens on a 35mm camera, a bright maximum aperture of f/2 and costs around £550.

Fujinon XF 18mm f/2 R (Fujifilm) - Review / Test Report

The Fujinon XF 18mm f/2 R is certainly a cool little lens for the Fujifilm X-Pro mirrorless system. After all small is beautiful these days. However, performance-wise it is a bit of a mixed bag.

Fast, compact and sharp

Granted most wide angle lens today are compact, but for the speed and size this one is hard to beat. They could have made this slightly faster but it has a shallow depth of field that is great for my purposes. The images are very rectilinear and nearly sharp corner to corner.
