I am very pleased with this lens. Very surprised how sharp it is for it's size and price. Two things that are missing is a manual aperture dial and a...
Very Small and very sharp
Lack of a.manual aperature dial
I was hoping that Fuji would release a compact 23mm F2.8 lens but they released the very large 23mm 1.4. So I got the 27mm for my X-E1. I could not be happier. It's compact, takes great photos and the camera with lens will fit in a jacket or vest pocket
Durable; Easy To Use; Lightweight; Reliable
Excellent Quality lens with even better pictures
Introduced with the Fujifim X-M1 camera, the Fujinon XF 27mm f/2.8 lens is an excellent partner for Fujifilm's other X-series bodies. Only 23 mm in length and weighing 78 grams, this lens covers the same angle of view as a 41mm lens on a 35mm camera.
Fans of compact prime lenses are sure to be excited by the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 27mm F2.8 ($449.95 list). The slim optic is compatible with Fuji's X camera system, and it's slim enough that smaller bodies like the X-M1 and X-E1 can slide into jacket or cargo pockets when it's attached.
Very small and light; Excellent center sharpness; Classic 40mm-equivalent field of view
Soft edges unless stopped down; No aperture ring.
Handling and features This compact prime lens for Fujifilm X-series cameras provides a field of view equivalent to a 41mm lens on a 35mm camera and a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture and was introduced alongside the Fujifilm X-M1 camera, which is currently smallest X-series camera available.
The Fujinon XF 27mm f/2.8 may not be the most attractive lens around regarding its focal length but it is certainly a very capable performer. In terms of sharpness it plays in the highest league especially when stopping down a bit.
Gary Wolstenholme reviews the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 27mm f/2.8 compact prime lens, with a field of view equivalent to a 41mm lens on a 35mm camera and a bright f/2.8 aperture.
Great sharpness in the centre; Good build quality; Low falloff and distortion; Low CA
Autofocus can hunt in low light and at close distances; Not as sharp towards the edges of the frame; Loss of contrast when shooting into the light
The Fujifilm XF 27mm F2.8 is the most compact lens in the fledgling XF line-up and is therefore worthy of attention from anyone interested in using a small, discrete and lightweight camera system, especially when paired with the new X-M1 body.
