GoPro Hero 6 Black

According to the market buzz, this is a BIG step up for the Go Pro. How big? Let's find out in this buying guide.

QuikStories With a Happy Ending

Download the free Go Pro and Quik mobile apps and take advantage of QuikStories, where you can send footage to your phone and let the app automatically edit it into the breath-taking video. Much of the buzz around the Hero6 Black is around this feature.

Twice The Performance

Much of Go Pro's "big step up" has to do with 4K60 and 1080p240 video, capable of delivering twice the performance of its predecessors.

A Sharper Image

The Go Pro Hero 6 Black also promises the best image quality ever, thanks to a brand new GP1 chip which has been optimised with this Go Pro model in mind.

Steady As It Goes

Smooth, stable footage really enhances the viewing experience, and the Go Pro Hero 6 Black delivers there as well, with what they call their most advanced video stabilisation yet.

It's Faster As Well

With 5 GHz Wi-Fi, copying video and photos to your phone is a much faster experience: 3 x faster offload speeds to be precise.

Low Light Is Alright

Another improvement in the Hero 6 Black is enhanced image quality for both video and photos in low-light.

Tougher Than Ever

These upgraded and updated features are housed in a tough and strong body. As a Go Pro is often used in and around water, you'll be pleased to know the Hero 6 Black is waterproof up to 10 metres.

GoPro Hero 6 Black: The best action camera – but pricey

GoPro has ruled the roost in the action camera for an age, but with improving smartphone cameras and waterproofing, the reasons for buying one are falling by the day. Why spend over £400 on a separate camera when your phone can shoot video that's nearly as good and that you can take out and about in...

4K video recording at 60fps; Great image stabilisation; Same excellent design as Hero 5

Much more expensive than Hero 5; Poor image quality in low light; App needs polish

The Hero 6 Black is an accomplished action camera, and the best on the market in my opinion, but there are a couple of serious issues that prevent it from gaining my wholehearted recommendation. The first is the price. Even though it's £100 cheaper than the original, £399 is still too much.

Video is great but audio is terrible

I got the camera in great shape and it works flawlessly. My only gripe is that audio is the worst. Iu2019ve read many things about how about the audio is but until you hear for yourself you you wonu2019t fully understand.

The touch screen function of this GoPro edition is really handy. Battery life pretty fair, could last half a day recording videos. No accessories apart from the sticky clips that you could stick to a helmet or any flat surface.

GoPro Hero 6 Black review

Last year GoPro unveiled the Hero 5 range which brought huge design changes – such as a waterproof body – and image quality upgrades in the form of video stabilisation.

GoPro 6

Best GoPro to date. The images are crisp and vibrant. Battery life OK but not great. Lovley menus and lots of options to make the most of the great footage. A great upgrade from the 4 but perhaps not from the 5 as fairly expensive still.

GoPro Hero 6 Black review: The Hero returns with a new soul

The name ‘GoPro' is generally associated with one thing - adventure and action cameras. If you are an adventure seeker, then a GoPro should be your must-have third eye. Recording the most thrilling moments of your life from a fisheye perspective and sharing it with the world is a great type of...

GoPro Hero6 Black review: is more power everything

The GoPro Hero6 Black is undoubtedly the most powerful action camera the company has created yet, but it's also the most expensive and still has a few areas, like compatibility, price and stabilisation, left to improve on.

Higher frame rates; Still waterproof to 10 metres without a case; 5GHz Wi-Fi for faster transfers

Expensive; HEVC codec not compatible on all devices; Low light shots still suffer

GoPro Hero 6 Black

The GoPro Hero6 Black looks just like the Hero5 Black. It's the same small size and still waterproof to 10 meters (33 feet) with the same ports, controls, battery and same size touchscreen on back.

The GoPro Hero6 Black has groundbreaking electronic video stabilization for the category, a long list of resolutions and frame rates to choose from and overall improved image quality; Its faster Wi-Fi makes mobile transfers a little less painful

It's pricey at $500; £500 or AU$750 and all those extra features and faster performance don't do battery life any favors
