GoPro Hero 6 Black

According to the market buzz, this is a BIG step up for the Go Pro. How big? Let's find out in this buying guide.

QuikStories With a Happy Ending

Download the free Go Pro and Quik mobile apps and take advantage of QuikStories, where you can send footage to your phone and let the app automatically edit it into the breath-taking video. Much of the buzz around the Hero6 Black is around this feature.

Twice The Performance

Much of Go Pro's "big step up" has to do with 4K60 and 1080p240 video, capable of delivering twice the performance of its predecessors.

A Sharper Image

The Go Pro Hero 6 Black also promises the best image quality ever, thanks to a brand new GP1 chip which has been optimised with this Go Pro model in mind.

Steady As It Goes

Smooth, stable footage really enhances the viewing experience, and the Go Pro Hero 6 Black delivers there as well, with what they call their most advanced video stabilisation yet.

It's Faster As Well

With 5 GHz Wi-Fi, copying video and photos to your phone is a much faster experience: 3 x faster offload speeds to be precise.

Low Light Is Alright

Another improvement in the Hero 6 Black is enhanced image quality for both video and photos in low-light.

Tougher Than Ever

These upgraded and updated features are housed in a tough and strong body. As a Go Pro is often used in and around water, you'll be pleased to know the Hero 6 Black is waterproof up to 10 metres.

If you look at the GoPro Hero 6 , it's nearly impossible to tell it apart from the Hero 5 , even on close inspection. The older, silver GoPros used to have the model number marked in black text on the front .

Improved stabilization; Large selection of slow-mo options; Greater manual control of exposure; Upgraded image processor

Pricier than the Hero 5 at launch; No update to the design; File compatibility issues on slow-mo videos

GoPro Hero 6 Black

The GoPro Hero 6 Black improves over the Hero 5 Black on multiple fronts. It's the best action camera you can buy today.

Superb electronic image stabilisation; Improved image quality; Higher frame rates and resolution combinations; Waterproof to 10m without a case

Voice controls can be a little unreliable; Most expensive GoPro Hero to date

GoPro HERO6 Black

The GoPro HERO6 Black is the most powerful GoPro to date. It's an update to last year's HERO5 Black, and comes with a host of upgrades and new features. Perhaps the most exciting new upgrade is the ability to shoot 4K video at 60fps, along with Full HD at 240fps.

GoPro Hero6 Black review

The GoPro Hero6 Black instantly becomes the best action camera you can buy based on the specs. 4K at 60fps and super-slow-motion 240fps at 1080p footage in such a small, versatile action camera make it a cinematic marvel.

Durable; waterproof body; Slick 4K video at 60fps; Super-slow-motion 240fps video; Improved image stabilization; Much better Wi-Fi transfer speeds

Still requires patience to operate; Controls can be cumbersome; An expensive hobby gadget

GoPro Hero6 Review: The Best Action Camera

GoPro has made some marked improvements with its latest action camera, the $499 Hero6 Black. While the outside looks almost identical to its predecessor, a faster processor inside means you can record 4K video at 60 frames per second (fps) and shoot slo-mo 1080p video at 240 fps.

Impressive image stabilization; New Touch Zoom feature; High-resolution images; video (4K; 60 fps; Better images in low light; Superslick slow motion

Occasional charging issues; No improvement to battery life

GoPro Hero 6 Black 4K UHD Action Camera, An In-Depth Review

GoPro's 4K and HD action cameras are some of the best known devices of their kind on sale today and with good reason. They excel in their market niche like almost no other competitor.

Awesome; Fantastic electronic image stabilization; Visuals on photo and video are better than ever; Mobile app is great; Tough; weather resistant design; Fits GoPro Hero 5 accessories; Much faster WiFi transfer

4K shooting drains power and memory; Controls still a bit clumsy; Pricey 4K action camera

GoPro HERO 6 Review – Best Action Camera Yet!

When the HERO 6 Black was first announced, my initial thought was that it was going to be a marginal update over the GoPro HERO5 Black …I was way wrong. This is flat out the best action camera that GoPro or any other company has ever created. Here's what you can expect from it.

Stunning 4K footage up to 60fps with better codec and compression; Huge ecosystem of compatible accessories and mounts; Super rugged design – water resistant down to 10 meters; Vastly improved image quality for videos and photos + superb image stabilization; Faster processor makes using this camera...

Expensive; Battery drains quickly when shooting in 4K; Sharing media still has plenty of road blocks

GoPro Hero 6 Black review: The best action camera ever made

If there's one brand that's synonymous with action cameras, it's GoPro . The company has completely dominated the market, with arguably its most important year-to-date being 2017.

Easy to use; reliable; great video quality and shooting options; voice control works well and mobile apps are first class

It's a bit pricey; touchscreen can be fiddly; low-light photos need improvement in auto mode
