The Huawei P10 Plus was announced alongside the standard sized P10, the latest flagship mobile phones from the company. It builds on the success of last year's P9, with its most interesting (for photographers) feature being its dual-camera setup, which has been co-engineered with Leica.

I have been a fan of Huawei and their build quality for a long time but the P series phones are a whole different beast to all other phones Huawei make/have made. They are slimmer and seem to feel small in the hand. The others just feel bulky when compared to them.

Back in April 2016, Huawei's P9 and P9 Plus entered into a highly competitive smartphone market with high-end specifications, Leica-branded dual cameras, and a really sleek design. But that was almost a year ago, and focus has now shifted to their successors, the P10 and P10 Plus.

So much so, there is an argument as to whether you will call this a smartphone with a camera or a camera that makes phone calls. That's not a bad thing when you consider our phones have become our go to device to document the world around us.

The P10 Plus is two steps forward and one step back for Huawei, it must be said. You've got a phone that delivers flagship-level camera quality, brisk performance and sturdy build quality.

The Huawei P10 is a big improvement on the P9 in almost every area – except the camera, which has remained the same; this is no bad thing when it was already pretty good in bright conditions.

Good things come in small packages. So do better things come in larger ones? When comparing the specs of the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus, it seems that the P10 Plus is a winner with an improved camera setup, more RAM, more storage and a higher quality display, especially when you consider the minimal jump in price from the P10 to the P10 Plus.
