Huawei P9 Single Sim 32GB
Huawei P9 is a 5.2-inch smartphone that was unveiled in April 2016 together with the larger P9 Plus model.

What are the differences compared to its predecessor P8? One of the main differences is the camera optics. Huawei has partnered with the well-renowned camera manufacturer Leica to improve the camera performance based on Leica's Summarit lens design. P9 sports two dual rear cameras that increase light sensitivity and improves contrast by up til 50% by employing a monochrome camera sensor that lacks RGB filter. The front camera has a resolution of 8 MP, which means that your selfies will look bright and crisp under a wide range of light conditions.

The Kirin 955 processor with 8 cores and 3 GB RAM memory ensures that the phone handles a great variety of processing tasks with impressive speeds. The phone has 32 GB storage.

Huawei P9 is one of the first phones to run Android 6.0 Marshmallows. The UI is customised by Huawei and is called EMUI. The phone is available in six different colours: haze gold, mystic silver, titanium grey, prestige gold, rose gold and ceramic white.

The battery can be recharged quickly and has a capacity of 3,000 mAh.

What about the weight with such sophisticated camera optics, fast processor and high battery capacity? This phone is remarkably light given its advanced specs and weighs only 144 gram.

Do you like the P9, but don't want to spend $700 on a phone? Then the budget version Huawei P9 Lite might be worth having a look at. It retails for less than half the price of P9.

Huawei P9 review: aiming for the big boys but just missing on software

The build, the feel, the camera and fingerprint sensor are all top-notch on the Huawei P9. It is the best smartphone the Chinese manufacturer has made, and is so close to competitors Samsung and Apple. The one thing that lets it down is the software.

excellent camera; brilliant fingerprint scanner; good screen; great build and feel; microSD card support; USB-C; good battery stats; decent battery life

EMUI not quite up to scratch; fixed-focus selfie camera; no quick charging; no removable battery; screen not good for VR (low res

Huawei P9 review: a solid smartphone - but it won't change the way you see the world

I like the Huawei P9, but I think it's a bold claim to say it'll change the way you see the world. It's well made, it's a really solid performer, but that camera isn't as good as they promised. Liked this

Sleek design; Interesting camera set up; Good battery life

Nothing innovative; Screen lackluster; Camera could be better

Featured Review: Huawei P9

Huawei is not a name that naturally rolls off the tongue when talking about smartphones. Names that do often end up being "Apple", "Samsung", "HTC", "LG" or even "Sony". This is probably because Huawei does a lot of their business in their home of China, but they've been moving into Europe and want...

Excellent build quality throughout; with a decent enough design for the average user; One of the best fingerprint scanners on the market; Excellent camera that offers a little prestige through the Leica name; Flush camera module!!!!!

Will remind some of a certain iDevice on shelves; Why do Huawei keep shipping Emotion UI on their devices; Software lets the overall experience down massively

If there's one feature that will convince you to buy Huawei's P9, it's the clever camera. Two separate sensors let you take gorgeous, native monochrome images and play around with depth of field, not to mention other fun and useful shooting modes.

Huawei P9 – Review

I've used this phone as my main handset for several weeks now. It's bloody brilliant. The handset feels premium and it acts premium. No fingerprints got stuck on it, the phone operated quickly, it has a great camera and a great battery life.

Huawei P9 review: Smart camera has it snapping at the heels of the flagship titans

Huawei's latest top-of-the-range handset, the 5.2-inch P9 , certainly looks like a premium smartphone should -- all aluminium, glass and soft curves. But it's also a little safe, lacking the futurist stylings of Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge , for example.

Dual-lens (RGB; B&W) camera system; Excellent fingerprint scanner; Good battery life

Emotion UI overlay may not appeal; Uninspired design; Moderate screen resolution; Lacks wireless and fast charging

Huawei P9 review: A great camera is the best thing about the Huawei P9

Huawei's flagship P9 is perhaps best seen as a camera with a smartphone attached.

It might take fancy photos, but the Huawei P9's high price means it's not a good choice over the similarly priced Samsung Galaxy S7.

The dual-lens camera takes great photos; particularly in black and white; and the phone's slim design makes it easy to carry around.

Huawei's Android skin is awkward to use and loaded with bloatware; The screen resolution should be higher, given the price.

Huawei P9 review

When comparing the P9 to other flagships, it’s important to remember the £449 price which makes it considerably cheaper than many of its rivals (but not the identically priced Nexus 6P that's also made by Huawei). Overall, we're impressed with the phone: it's well built, feels good and looks good. The cameras aren't the absolute best out there, it doesn't top the charts in game tests and the screen isn't Quad HD, but these minor quibbles are outweighed not only by the price but also because, unlike the Nexus, the P9 lets you stick in a microSD card to expand the storage. If you can afford it, the Galaxy S7 is a better phone overall, but this is a great choice if you can't.
