Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II

We knew an update to the popular Olympus OM-D E-M5 was in the offing when the company quietly announced it had stopped making the camera in November 2014. So when the E-M5 Mark II was unveiled on 5 February, nobody was really surprised.

Review: Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II

Looking for a camera that can handle the real world and not take too much of your luggage up Olympus lets us play with its second-gen E-M5. Is this the best digital mirrorless yet

Very comfortable to hold; Excellent image quality; OLED touchscreen included; with a vari-angle hinge; Includes WiFi; and can be controlled via smartphone or tablet; Extra high-resolution mode is a really cool inclusion; even if it does need a tripod or a stable surface to work at this time; Comes...

A little slow to start up; Still no flash built in; External battery charger still required to charge the camera up

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II Review

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II Review - The Olympus E-M5 Mark II takes over from the popular E-M5 Mark I, and although it looks similar to its predecessor it features a wide range of core enhancements

Excellent operating speed; Great build quality including weather resistance; Full customisation of most controls Great JPEG image quality

Raw image quality doesn't quite match competition; Menu interface somewhat challenging; A few design errors

It's all about stabilization

Excellent camera. Weather sealed, responsive etc. etc. But what makes this camera stand out from all the others is its superb image stabilization. I spent one day in my local park with the 40-150 f2.8 lens.

Robust construction; responsive; excellent autofocus and absolutely incredible image stabilization

Menu navigation a bit confusing at first

lots of good, some not-so-good

I am a serious hobbyist photographer, shooting primarily landscapes and wildlife. I was interested in transitioning from full-frame Canon gear to Olympus to reduce size and weight for my travels, and enjoy the benefits of the EVF.

... ii - have to say so far I really love the camera

Changed from full frame Canon 6D to OMD ii - have to say so far I really love the camera, its well built and solid but light and small, the only physical element to get used to is getting my hands around it for grip as lot smaller than 6D.

Excellent image quality and very light/compact to use!

This was my switchover camera when I abandoned the DSLR system (Canon 5D Mark III) and it did not disappoint, given its compactness and highly impressive image quality. Here is my take on the pros and cons after 3.5 years of usage: Pros: + Very impressive still image quality rendered via Olympuss...
