Phone manufacturer OPPO has been a constant presence in New Zealand market share lists over the last few years, with IDC pointing out OPPO is on the top three here.

The Oppo Find X5 Pro is a nice-looking, slick Android phone. It has many of the high-end features you should expect, including Android’s top chip from Qualcomm, good battery life, a great screen, unusual back design and incredibly fast charging.

Pros: good screen, top performance, long battery life, very fast charging, interesting design, good main camera, water resistance, fast in-screen fingerprint scanner.

Cons: expensive, ultrawide camera is inconsistent, lack of extended optical zoom for the camera is poor, only four years of software support guaranteed, ColorOS not polished enough, design marred by ugly logos, back is too smooth and slides around on not-quite-flat surfaces.

Last week, Oppo launched its latest Android flagship – the Find X5 Pro (€1,299 / ~$1400) – and we just spent a few days using the phone in Barcelona during Mobile World Congress 2022. Before we share our first impressions, let’s provide some context.

I can see why Oppo has been quite popular internationally. This Oppo Find X5 Pro is truly an exceptional device, especially when you read about all that went into creating it. Everything from the ceramic backplate to the dedicated MariSilicone X NPU really makes you appreciate how special it is.

Incorporating a superior camera system with advanced stabilisation technology, amazing battery capacity and a premium build, the impressive OPPO Find X5 Pro is a smartphone whose features define the current state-of-the-art.

There are a lot of reasons to like the OPPO Find X5 Pro. Case in point, the camera performance is definitely the best thing on the device, alongside the sleek and beautiful design, powerful chipset and crazy fast recharging speed.
