This is very possibly the best lens I own when I take into consideration that it has no weaknesses in any areas. I cannot find a fault in it, with the tiny exception of the rather long minimum focusing distance that makes it a little challenging to use indoors.

sharp IQ; beautiful bokeh; compact; all-metal and luxurious

Very nice prime lens

Though I'm primarily a Nikon fan, I bought my K-3 because Nikon (and Canon) seem unaware of a thing called rain. I passed up some great shots from behind a waterfall in the Smokies because I wasn't going to take one of my D-800s into the heavy mist.

Pentax HD DA 70mm F2.4 Limited

The Pentax HD DA 70mm F2.4 Limited ($749.95 direct) is a compact, short telephoto lens that's compatible with Pentax D-SLRs. It covers an APS-C image circle, capturing roughly the same field of view as a 105mm lens on a full-frame camera .

Very sharp; Minimal distortion; Compact design.

Expensive; Not weather sealed

good buy for a k mount lens

The is a great lens and gets me dreamy results good for sports as a mid range lens. does well in low light with a modern pentax camera. small size and weight and nice hood that comes with the lens. can use for portraits too .

Sharp lens, small size is not as intimidating as most portrait lenses. Very neat extending hood, it can be removed by unscrewing from the filter threads, or you can screw on a filter and then reattach the hood. Small size means you can always have it with you in the bag.

Expensive but Top Class

The Limited marque is the premium range of lenses for Pentax DSLRs, owned these days by Ricoh. Limited lenses are made fully from metal and glass, not the more lightweight plastic found in other models and is hand machined in production.

Great combo of image quality, size, and build quality.

Great image quality, even wide open, across the frame; Quick AF with manual override (much improved over older 77 f/1.8; Terrific carry anywhere size

Could be faster (aperture); Doesn't quite have the magic that the 77 LTD is capable of

A reason to stay with Pentax

A lens I love using, it has a lovely image quality of its own. I was blown away when I got back from Poland when I viewed the images on my pc. I also love the lens cap, as apposed to the 20-40 mm cap which is a design disaster. Simple things can often affect your joy of using a lens.

Durable; Great Features; Great Picture Quality; Lightweight; Simple Controls

Pentax SMC-DA 70mm f/2.4 Limited - Review / Test Report

The DA 70mm f/2.4 is a Limited lens - these lenses are build to higher quality standards and the mechanical quality is indeed excellent thanks to a metal shell and tight tolerances. The tiny focus operates smooth and slightly damped.
