I'm a documentary filmmaker &I bought this lens for my Canon C100 Mark II. It's the worlds best lens of its kind, being F/1.8 and a zoom lens, it enables you to shoot footage that's amazing in low light which far surpasses any other lens I own.

I have no hesitation in joining the chorus of praises for this lens as far as pure optics and ground breaking parameters. If you want to replace 2-3 prime lenses and can adjust to the size and weight, this is lens can do the job, but for me, the limited range and lack of stabilization made it a...
I replace my Tamron 17-50 f2.8 by this lens and I do not regret. It is sharp and on my D7100 it is a perfect match. The only negative comment, it is a big and heavy lens compare to my Tamron.
Sharp; price f1.8

Have only used the new lens for a few days. But I must say I am pleased with its capabilities. Really am liking the small focal settings to achieve bokeh effects on closeups. The ability to change from 18-35 mm is very convenient.
The best lens out of my collection. there are only two lenses I take out, 24 - 70mm F2.8 and now this Sigma 18-35mm F 1.8. This also works perfectly with my BMCC. Talk about sharpness. X) Very satisfied with this purchase.
This is a classy lens for APS sensor cameras in every way. Build quality is first rate with smooth zoom and focusing action. It is a perfect match for my Canon 70D (or a 7D) Image quality stopped down is razor sharp with virtually no distortion or vignetting.
Excellent build and image quality
One needs to use this lens with care due to the shallow depth of field
Gary Wolstenholme reviews the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM A standard zoom lens.
Excellent sharpness; Constant f/1.8 aperture; Low falloff for an f/1.8 lens; Good build quality; Reasonably priced
No real issues to report
We are a little late with this review but finally here it is ... our test of the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM "Art" (Canon mount, Nikon will follow eventually). The lens produced quite some buzz when it was released earlier this year.
On paper the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM effectively replaces fast 28mm, 35mm and 50mm equivalent optics in your camera bag, saving space and money whilst offering the convenience of a zoom lens.
When sigma announced that it was developing the world's first zoom lens to feature a super-fast, fixed aperture of f/1.8 throughout the focal length range, the news certainly turned some heads in the photography world.
