Sony E 35mm F1.8 OSS Review

The Sony E 35mm F1.8 OSS ($449.99) is the company's standard-angle lens for its APS-C mirrorless camera system. The compact prime—it doesn't offer zoom—opens all the way up to f/1.8, so you can capture better shots in dim light and blur backgrounds behind your subject. It also sports optical stabilization, a plus for both stills and video. The only thing missing is weather protection, a feature that rival Fujifilm builds into its APS-C mirrorless lenses, but Sony reserves for full-frame glass. If you use a sealed camera, consider pairing it with the full-frame FE 35mm F1.8 ($749.99), but be aware you'll lose stabilization and pay a premium. Compact Standard Prime The E 35mm F1.8 OSS is a featherweight, measuring just 1.8 by 2.5 inches (HD) and weighing in at 5.4 ounces. It supports 49mm front filters, the same size used by many other of the lenses Sony sells for its APS-C mirrorless system. A reversible lens hood is included, along with front and rear caps. Brilliant APCR Prime Lens

I love this lens!!! It works really well for low light and shallow depth of field shots. It's also one of my favorite lenses for landscape and cityscape shots. Keep in mind these photos were taken on an old Sony NEX-3N.

Sony E 35mm f/1.8 OSS (SEL-35F18) - Review / Lens Test Report

Given the recent announcements, Sony is finally getting serious about beefing up their lens lineup for the Sony NEX system - so far this has been a major weakness of the system. It seems as if they are feeling the heat introduced by the highly successful Fuji X-system.

This lens is the perfect "nifty fifty" on the Sony a5xxx, a6xxx series of APS-C cameras. The lens has a very good build quality, and is very lightweight. The wide aperture of f/1.8 makes the lens ideal for indoors use, although if the lighting is too dim the camera will struggle to focus.

Best Walk Around Prime Lens To Leave On

This has become the lens that stays attached to my camera in perpetuity until I need a telescoping zoom. Great pairing with the Sony A6000, and vastly better than any kit lens, so long as you are willing to work around the fixed focal length.

High performance and a compact design make the SEL-35F18 prime lens an ideal second lens that's easy to carry around while capturing the action. It's perfect for a wide variety of photos, including snapshots while strolling, night shots (thanks to the bright maximum aperture) and portraits with...

Must buy

I bought this lens exclusively forgimbal/autofocus work on my a6500. Trust me when I say it's a must buy. When the sun is out, this thing is extremely sharp and keeps focus incredibly at 1.8 If you were on the fence, get off of it and buy this lens asap. You wont be sorry!
