Being in transition from Nikon to Sony; I was hoping to use the Commlite adaptor on my 24-70E f2.8 VR as it is an amazing lens. However, the adaptor proved next to useless, particularly as the recent upgrade excluded E lines!! So my 24-70 was sold as soon as I could obtain the GM.

While the size and cost of this lens can't be ignored, the quality and versatility also stand out. I normally post pictures, but there are already tons of sample pictures out there.

The FE 24-70 F2.8 GM, with the unmistakeable, polished red square on the side. The focus Tack sharp, see below. You can see the peach fuzz on the face of your subject. The manual focusing ring glides with your intentional touch, but stays in place for the natural movements of your breathing.

It's hard to describe how much I like the A7r - but one of the things that comes with it is that punishing 36MP sensor. I knew in my heart that a mid-level (but premium priced) zoom lens would not be perfect - but my hopes were high.

The Sony G Master range is described as a "supreme blend of high resolution and beautiful bokeh" which will match current and even future trends with high resolution sensors. This is a very desirable combination of properties if it can be achieved, especially with such a useful, bright f/2.8...

(24mm, F2.8, 1/60, ISO 100) As a standard zoom lens, the Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM is certainly top notch. It doesn't have that charisma of the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 or the Sony 85mm F1.4 GM that you immediately see as soon as you take your first shot.

If you're looking for a standard range zoom lens that delivers excellent performance across the board, look no further; As part of Sony's illustrious, if pricey, G Master family, the FE 24-70mm F2.8 not only fills the gap in the collection, it's also secured a high spot in the best standard zoom...

For all the excellent features it boasts, the FE 24-70mm F2.8 somehow feels a tad forgettable, especially next to some of its G Master brothers and particularly for a glass with $2200 price tag; What we mean is that it doesn't have enough oomph or sex appeal.

Sony's FE 24-70mm f2.8 GM is a new standard zoom lens for its full-frame mirrorless cameras. The wide to short telephoto range and bright f2.8 focal ratio make it ideal for portraits and wedding photography, along with general-purpose use.

From an optical quality point of view, there is not a lot to say against this 24-70mm GM lens. Sharpness is definitely its strongest point: the results are excellent all the way through, at all focal lengths and all main apertures from corner to corner.
