Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD (Model A007) Lens

Tamron's latest zoom lens covers the popular 24-70mm focal length span with a fast maximum aperture that remains at f/2.8 throughout the range. The SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD is designed primarily for cameras with 36 x 24 mm sensors but, being a 'Di' lens, it is usable with APS-C camera bodies.

[REVIEW-TAMRON SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD lens]

The Tamron lens, with an f2.8 constant maximum aperture, is in the category of "standard" zoom for a full frame DSLR. It can be used on a reduced sensor APS camera, where the focal lengths then become 36–105mm.

Tamron SP 24-70MM F/2.8 Di VC USD Lens

A fast, sharp, image-stablized 24–70mm zoom lens is just what serious photographers have been crying out for but so far the major camera manufacturers have not answered their pleas.

Sharp; Image-stabilized; Well built; Dependable

Rear focus ring hinders; steadiness

Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD SP (Model A007) review by DaveJDSP

I saw this lens reviewed and advertised and it seems to be the only alternative to the Nikon 24-70 f 2.8. I really want/need VC (VR), but I doubted that the Tamron optical quality would be acceptable. Up till now, I have only bought Canon or Nikon lenses (not including my view camera lenses).

Simply Better than the Nikon 24-70 f2.8 and much less expensive; Better center sharpness, better corner sharpness, better resistance to flare, better micro-contrast, better color, and of course it has VC as a bonus

Image quality unacceptable in corners, needs to be better; I need better image quality, even if I have to pay more to get it.

Equal to if not better than the Nikon

I bought this on the strength of various reviews in magazines. At the time I already owned the more expensive Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 lens, however I felt my Nikon 24-70 lens gave slightly underexposed results.

Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Image Stabilization; Lightweight; Quick Focus; Rugged; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction

Great lens, but a grey import

Nowhere on the website does it say it's a grey import. do not expect proper warranty cover!

The Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD is distinguished by being the first fast standard zoom for full frame cameras to include optical image stabilization. The fact that it does so in a design that includes a ring-type ultrasonic motor for fast, silent autofocus and a degree of weathersealing...

Extremely good optics; Highly effective image stabilization; Silent; accurate focusing; Impressive flare resistance; Very good build quality including sealing; Competitive price compared to camera manufacturers' equivalents

Unpleasant vignetting at F2.8 on full frame at the telephoto end; Slightly less-fast autofocus than Canon or Nikon equivalents (but far from slow; AF and VC switches rather stiff; difficult to change quickly

It does not affect good image quality but I would never buy a Tamron ...

After one year of regular usage the wide rubber band, the one you spin to zoom, stretched and became loose and now moves along the lens so I need to pull it back, where it should be, every 30 min. It does not affect good image quality but I would never buy a Tamron lens again.

Second only to Tamron's own 24-70 G2.

Simply put, you won't find a better 24-70 on the Nikon side for this little. Sigma may have theirs, but the image stabilization isn't NEARLY as effective.

Great Value and an extra bonus having VC which no-one else has in a 24-70mm

Great sharp lens. I bought it because it was cheaper than the Nikon equivalent, but this also has VC which no other 24-70mm has on the market.
