OXCGN's Total War: Rome II Review

I'm going to say this straight out: I am terrible at Real-Time Strategy games. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the premise of building and expanding your nation and its people, but it's something about the constant micromanagement I can't quite get my head around.

Total War: Rome II Review

Buy Total War: Rome II Rome was not built in a Day. This saying is a pretty apt description of what your expected playtime with Total War: Rome II will be like. The game requires a significant time investment to be truly appreciated, and as seems to be the case, to be truly optimised.

Total War: Rome II Review

The Total War series has always been about the balance between small- and large-scale conflict, and Rome II has taken that philosophy to its logical conclusion. In your quest to conquer Ancient Europe, you groom generals and warlords for command, curb the political machinations of your rivals, and...

Excellent balance between large-scale strategy and frontline tactics; New features add spectacular flavor and variety to an already great system; Varied units and impressive detail; especially from a distance; It's rewarding to watch the effects of your tactical decisions unfold

A number of technical problems and stability issues; Camera doesn't have enough flexibility for larger battles

Sega Total War Rome II

A challenging game worth the time and money. It varies from the previous version but remains an enjoyable experience.

Total War: Rome II

Total War: Rome II takes after the once thriving civilization it simulates. Filled with massive battles where hundreds of units create thunder with a unified march, the game brims with spectacle.

Total War: Rome II

How to wrap this up then? The key point here is that Creative Assembly haven't made a ‘bad' game, not by any means… it's just not a very exciting one. It's fairly stable, as things go, and while you will probably break the game in some way, there's nothing really game-breaking about the technical...

Rally the Troops and Prepare for War | Total War: Rome 2 Review

A good strategy game is hard to find, especially in today's marketplace. It seems that we are just flooded with games that focus on micromanagement, rather than the bigger picture.

+Simple Gameplay; +Expanded Multiplayer

-Minor AI Glitches; -Still Being Patched

Total War: Rome II – PC Game Review

The best thing about PC games is that the final game doesn't have to be the final word. Yes, Rome II has some bugs – those will be addressed. Rome II may have some balance issues-that can be fixed.

Massive amounts of gameplay options; strategic and tactic options; fantastic visuals

All the headaches of ruling an empire; a few bugs that need to be worked out

Total War: Rome 2 review

"Rome II does a great job expanding on the series' massive scope." "A successful, multipronged attack in Rome II is both invigorating and a stunning sight to behold..." "...the turn-based, empire-building element of Total War has also come a long way since the first Rome." "..

Leading attacks on land and sea simultaneously; Stances and out-of-battle tactics; Overwhelming scale that constantly tops itself

Characteristically steep learning curve; Interface that's a bit over-reliant on tooltips; A few pathfinding issues
