Everything I need in one lens!

This is a great lens! The build seems a bit fragile, but you must understand that this is not part of Canon's premium lens series. Aside from a lens exterior that is more prone to damage, the interior lens glass is still top of the line.

Great Value

I bought this lens just over two years ago as a package deal on three lenses. At first I never used it as I wanted the other two "L" lenses but the deal included all three. One day I put it on my 40D and took it outside with my daughter and two of her friends for an informal Prom shoot.

Fast auto-focus; Superior build quality; Super-sharp images; very versitile lens; replaced several lenses

Great lens at an even better price

Over twenty years after it was designed, I can say with confidence that Canon got it right with this lens. If you are looking for a relatively fast prime lens at this focal length, this is probably the cheapest option to get you in the game.

Not as expensive as L!!!

Although this lens can be bought from eBay for the proverbial song, it's every bit as sharp and contrasty as the expensive as L prime lenses that I own! If you're contemplating a purchase of this this lens, then just buy it, as you won't regret it.

quality sharp shoter

I use it for theatre photographs. big apeature, great clarity and sharpness. on my 1x6 crop it has an effective focal lenght of 216mm which means it frames beautifully in most theatres. and then there is the soft focus feature, which is an interesting option for when the mood takes you.

sharp; sharp; sharp; luminosity; great in B & W

Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 Soft Focus

Got this on Ebay for 89 and did not expect much from it but I was pleasantly surprised. The lens is sharp and I use manual focussing so the slow focussing doesn't bother me. Used on a crop sensor Canon, the results as a normal 135mm lens is excellent and I am well pleased with the purchase, a...

Quite sharp at all apertures Very sharp stopped down Nice effects from the soft focus Good contrast and colour

none significant apart from slow focussing

very good overall

but you need to experiment with the 2 soft focus settings to see how it looks at different apertures - not always obvious looking at the screen on the back of the camera. Quite reasonably priced considering it's a fast Canon - good portrait lenses aren't cheap.

Superior build quality

What can I say that has not already been said This lens is a versatile multitool of a lens. Rather surprising for a prime, you will not believe it until you experience it. I got the lens for a bargain price of 250 euros (the price rating I gave is for the list price - I think all photography...

Sharp; lightweight; awesome bokeh; fast and quiet motor; accurate AF; softfocus feature is a nice addon

None; except the plastic feel
