For the Ultra Wide Shooter

A phenomenal combination of Full-Frame sensor and ultra wide glass to create a formidable landscape kit. With the versatility of the 16-35mm you can go from the ultra wide 16mm to the more conventional 35mm, which is especially handy for the Events Photographers. A versatile camera and lens.

CANON EF 16-35 mm f/2.8L III USM Wide-angle Zoom Lens

Great pictures and a good wide-angle

Don't feel as good build quality as my EF70/200mm f2.8 is usm mk2 lens

But to be honest, I didn't know what to expect from the beta version of the Canon 16-35mm f2.8 L USM III lens that I tried.

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM

The new Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM is an outstanding but also very expensive ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that will appeal most to landscape, reportage and wedding photographers looking for a well-built, weather-proof optic with the main advantage of a fast and constant f/2.8 aperture for...

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM Lens Review

Prepare to be impressed: The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM Lens delivers outstanding image quality, far surpassing its predecessor, in a very well built, great-to-use lens that features a range of focal lengths that I consider a critical part of most full frame (and many APS-C format) kits.

Finally! A wide angle L zoom that's up to the job

I've owned all 3 iterations of Canon's 16-35 mm f:2.8 L zoom. The first model was okay for its day, and rendered good 'sunstars' in backlit images, but resolution was just adequate for 8 mp sensors and corners tended to go soft with color fringing at most apertures.

REVIEW: Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM Review

Canon 16-35mm L lenses have an enviable reputation for quality and we now have the latest incarnation as the Mk III version. With a useful f/2.8 constant aperture and ultra-wide 16mm focal length this would be a versatile lens for much general work, including architecture, weddings and reportage.

Canon EF 16-35 mm f/2.8L III USM

Taking into account the fact that the first lens of that type was launched already in 1996 and five years later the company showed a model with a bit wider focal range we were surprised that the next version of the lens, marked as II and launched in 2007, was a fail.

solid casing; excellent image quality in the frame centre; very good image quality on the edge of the APS-C sensor; good image quality on the edge of full frame; imperceptible longitudinal chromatic aberration; lack of serious problems with lateral chromatic aberration; moderate spherical...

a bit too high coma for the longer end of focal range; monstrous vignetting on full frame

With an equivalent focal length of 25.6-56mm and an equivalent aperture of F4.5 there are better wide-angle APS-C options on the market such as the Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 AT-X116 Pro DX II Lens or the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Art DC HSM that can really take advantage of a fast aperture for a fraction of the...
