A superb general-purpose lens, Canon's EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM is equally at home on the EOS 400D and the 'full frame' EOS 5D cameras, giving a focal length range equivalent to 38.4 to 168mm on the former.

This lens cam packaged with my 5D MKII about 10 years ago. It stayed on my MKII and now my MKIV. It is a great "Standard" lens. I usually take coin shots with 50MM Macro, but I though I would try this lens for the review. I shot this with Auto ISO and Tv at 1/60.

Of the lenses that I own, this one spends the most time on my camera bodies. Whether on full frame or cropped sensor, the images this lens produces are spectacular. It is wide (and sharp) enough at 24mm to shoot landscapes, especially on an FF body.

I really had a hard time making the decision to by the lense as opposed to upgrading my camera body. I kept thinking, how much better could it be than than what I'm using now. I bought this lens partially for it's versatility, but the timing of the purchase was to shoot pictures for a friend's wedding. I tested the lens out the week before and it worked fine and I ensured it was compatible with my canon cameras.

Though it is a kit lens, this is one of the best general purpose lenses that you can have for a canon. With great focal range and constant aperture of 4, this lens is great in moderate light situations.

I bought this zoom in 2005. I did not like the 24-70 F2.8 to walk around. To big. The IS is incredible, IQ is oke and I love the range. That 35 mm extra at the end is very nice. I still think this is the most versatile zoom there is. Go on holiday, take this zoom and a EF 50mm F1.2L with you.

Very nice relative small and light walk around lens with perfect range on FF; If you chose one (zoom)lens to take along this is maybe the one; IS is nice

Nothing special, F4.0 but that why it is small and light; Construction failure, my copy creeps like mad; I put an elastic string around the zoomring, that helps; But a lock would have been nice

I had used this lens before, and it was only a matter of time before I saved for one to own it. Although I wish that the aperture would open to 2.0, it is otherwise an amazing lens with great versatility.
