The last Powershot G series I purchased was a G11. The G series has been improved so much so that I use it as my primary camera if I don't need to use my EOS 70D. A very impressive compact camera overall.

Canon Powershot G16 12. 1MP Bridge Camera - Black

I found this camera very easy to use. Picture quality is excellent. You can either transfer pictures/videos via wifi from the camera to computer or you can take the SD card from the camera and put it straight into the your computer. it is so easy to use.

Canon's PowerShot G16 sits awkwardly in the current camera market. It's more expensive than other high-end compacts, yet lacks the interchangeable lenses and larger sensors found on compact system cameras such as the Sony NEX and Olympus PEN ranges.

Canon has now released the latest in that line of fixed lens cameras aimed at more advanced photographers, the PowerShot G16. It looks and operates a lot like its predecessor (the G15), but the G16 includes a handful of nice new features that aren't immediately obvious at first glance.

New DIGIC 6 image processor creates high-performing camera; Autofocus works extremely quickly; G16 has almost no shutter lag and minimal shot to shot delays; Continuous shooting modes in JPEG are impressive; Very good image quality versus other fixed lens cameras; Can shoot in RAW or JPEG or both,...

Price is a little high; Optical zoom is limited to 5x; Camera body is a little chunky; No touch screen LCD; No articulated LCD; Wi-Fi is tricky to set up and use; Menu design could be better; Camera's burst mode performance slows noticeably in RAW mode; Very few movie control options; Optical...

Canon G16 review

The Canon GXX series has long been considered the natural back-up camera for DSLR users, especially those already familiar with the Canon brand. As such, the outward design of this range has changed little from its first incarnation.

[REVIEW-CANON POWERSHOT G16]

This 12.1 mega pixel camera has a stabilised 5x optical zoom (28-140mm 35mm equiv) with f1.8-2.8 aperture. It is unusual in having an optical viewfinder, albeit slightly obscured by the lens barrel. The 75mm LCD is non-swivelling and of good resolution.

Canon PowerShot G16

How is this for a complaint – the new G16 is just too fast. You would never have said it of any of the previous models, which took their time to snap and save to move on to the next shot.

Awesome shooting speed; Star Trails feature quite cool; Excellent usability; Strong body

No touchscreen; Optical viewfinder bad; No GPS
