A decent general purpose scanner, if you can find one at a good price.

This is a decent general purpose scanner. It performs well with non-transparent materials. Be aware that it will scan 35mm and 120 (medium format) film, but not to the same quality as a dedicated film scanner; if are primarily interested in scanning film however, look for a dedicated film scanner...

Pros

Good value (scanning quality and included software). Though the slide and film holders are flimsy, they are good enough for occasional use.

Nice software bundle; All cables included; Scanning old photos seem to render better contrast using included ICE software

Not as fast as I hoped; Negative and slide holders a bit flimsy

Perfection - Well Named

The Epson software installed on my Mac faultlessly and integrated with my current Epson printer/scanner/copier. I have been enjoying scanning my archive of colour slides and colour negative film. The document scanner will usefully save in PDF or jpeg formats.

Easy To Set Up

Epson Perfection V600 Photo

There are several classes of flatbed scanner, from cheap and cheerful top-of-an-all-in-one class to multi-thousand pound professional art capture devices. Epson's Perfection V600 Photo is aimed at the photo enthusiast, either keen amateur or semi-pro.

Digital ICE dust removal; Excellent OCR results; Good range of transparency holders

Substantial footprint; External power supply; Noisy head drive motors

Epson V600 flat bed scanner.

This is a good flatbed scanner for the average person. It is a very inexpensive flat bed scanner and it produces good results. I just wanted something to scan family photos, negatives, and slide film for archive purposes. This fit my needs and budget perfectly.

High quality, Easy to use; Can scan slides and pictures

Not the perfect solution for scanning slide film

Excellent!

I am very impressed with this scanner. Scans are clean and crisp. Sounds like a higher quality motor and mechanical parts. The software features are very extensive and you can use them right during scanning. Also comes with Photoshop Elements 7. I really could not be more pleased!

Great results, easy to use

This scanner is so easy to use, fast, and the scans are well done -- true to color and clear. I like the mode choices, especially the full auto mode. It works really well when I don't have to make any adjustments. When I use the other modes, I get what I want.

Great Scanner for Home Use

Use to make electronic copies and restore old family photos as well as other hard copy items, such as warranties to keep records organized electronically and available for printing. Like the Adobe Shop software that came with it.

Accurate Color; Easy document restoration; Easy Setup; Easy to use; Excellent Software; Good Resolution

Cumbersome file naming

Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner

The Epson Perfection V600 Photo slots in just above the V500 model but has a lower bit depth than the V700, which we reviewed in March 2006 and which remains as the premium model in Epson's range.
