Sweet little portable scanner

Epson rarely lets me down with scanners. For such a small, portable device, it is quite efficient in producing quality scans. The software is reasonably comprehensive and has the usual options of DPI and correction. Feed is only single page and tends to skew unless you use the software correction.

Easy To Set Up; Easy to Use; Efficient; Nice software interface; Quality Construction; Reliable; Small footprint

Single page feed

TOTALLY OUTDATED AND UNUSABLE ON MAC

This looked like it was perfect for what I wanted it to do. I have a 10.11 OS Mac and it never occurred to me that this would only run on old, outdated systems. I saw the list of old systems, but I thought it went back that far not that it JUST worked with OLD systems. Live and learn.

Epson WorkForce DS-30

The WorkForce DS-30 marks the Epson's first foray into the still portable scanner market. As the new kid on the block, Epson has to tangle with some already established names, specifically Neat Receipts, Plustek and Xerox. So does the DS-30 have what it takes to shake up the portable scanner market?

Stylish design; Strong software suite; Excellent scan quality

Slow color scan speeds

Scanner works great, software needs help

Although the scanner works just fine, the software provided with this unit is not at all comparable to the Neat software that comes with their portable unit. For the $50 or so, I wish I would have bought the Neat unit.

Scanner is comparable to neat receipts

Software is very basic; needs a lot of work

Great for the price!

I purchased this for around $100 thru OfficeMax. It's great for getting all of my accumulated "need to organize" notes, papers, etc. into one place. This is the first step to decluttering from a paper avalanche. Expect some of the cons listed from this great, portable scanner. Just work around them.

portability; speed; can scan in series; powered from usb no power outlet needed

light weight so shifts easily when scanning; can scan in series but short window to do so

ok...

If you remember that this is intended to be a portable scanner, then you're expectations will be well set. I have an Epson V-500 photo scanner that I really like. The problem was that it didn't do legal size scans because the bed didn't accomodate it (makes sense).

Product is compact and easy to store in our caravan

Good size when there is limited space for storage, and the carry bag is very good to keep it clean and safe. Easy to scan although the software was little difficult to download.

Need a quick inexpensive scanner

Works great. Will only scan letter size paper no index size scans. You can trick it to take the index size if a letter size paper is with it. Works great and easy. Perfect for quick scan

Just what I wanted!

I bought this because I wanted a small portable scanner to use with my Dell XPS laptop and Windows 10. It worked well scanning a foreign document (Dutch) and then converting it via the provided software to English (Word & PDF files).

While flatbed scanners can be picked up for next to nothing, sheet-fed scanners tend to be pricey purchases, typically starting at several hundred pounds. The DS-30, though, is rather cheaper. Even its top price of £180 is fairly low, and it can be snapped up for closer to £100 if you shop around.
