In most ways, the Epson WorkForce DS-30 portable scanner ($179.99 direct) is simply one more variation on an old standard: a no-frills, portable scanner limited to manual feeding and simplex (one-sided) scans.
Small; Light; Inexpensive; Gets power over USB cable; Can send files to Microsoft SharePoint, EverNote, and Google Docs
Simplex (one-sided) scans only; Manual feed only
Best thing I have bought in years. Really simple to set up and operate, and does PDFs too.
Great portable scanner, easy to use, comes with nice travel case, nice quality images for simple at home use
It is a very compact and at the same time a very reliable scanner, which can be used almost anywhere. I use it at home for archiving my old family photos as well as for archiving documents. On several occasions I used it in a library for scanning single pages.
Scanners, much like printers, are the unsung heroes of the digital world. And portable scanners, are all the more appealing for the fact that they are designed to be easily transportable, powered by the USB port on one's PC rather than an external adapter.
Easy to use; Portable; Offers several output formats
Bit fussy when grasping pages; Doesn't offer double sided scanning
