I replaced my canon scanner with a HP Scanjet g4050 recently. While it is the largest scanner I've owned in several years, I now need the ability to scan legal size documents, old canon was just too small for that job.

Good quality product which does what it is supposed to and does it well.

For pure picture quality, you'll have a hard time finding a consumer-friendly scanner with this level of performance. It includes six-color, 96-bit scanning to ensure your images maintain rich colors and deep blacks even at very high resolutions.

The Negatives to computer prints are washed out on some. may be the negatives. the photo scans are excellent. It's not a speedy scanner, but I was looking for quality and it has excellent quality scanning old photos.

you've almost certainly heard of six-color printing, with the extra ink colors making it easier to print at true photo quality. but i'll bet you haven't heard about six-color scanning . that's because the scanners you're used to all use three colors for scans.

Scan software is cumbersome in some ways and sometimes slow to react to a command

What you would expect from a flatbed scanner for speed and quality at this price . I got it because it scans 4x5 negatives and I have a collection from WWII that I want to digitize .
