Different but Good

Using this lens is a bit different than lenses without the aperture ring. However, once recognized, it adds some great artistic opportunities for those occasional photos intended to be different.

Stadium and Starting Line Lens Requirement

Since the advent of the full frame FX sensor, the Nikon 16mm "fisheye" lens has been resurrected. The two photos below were taken with a Nikon D700 camera body. Resolution is excellent and depth of field is infinite, even at large apertures.

Great deal on a genuine Nikon lens.

What a great lens. it has been in production in it's current form since the mid 90's. my guess is that there has never been anything that needed to be changed about this lens. i've used it quite a bit now and it takes excellent photos.

Great super-wide lens

I specifically bought this to get a super-wide angle of view that practically "swallows" the entire scene in front, and that's exactly what it does. The heavy distortion is part of the design, making this lens highly specialized and not for "general" use.

Super-wide view; versatile for low light shooting

Older lens design - I'd argue it could be priced lower

AMAZING!

Just returned from Crater Lake NP and Redwoods SP/NP. I used the lens with my D750 with great results! I highly recommend this lens for anyone who has thought about adding a fisheye lens to their repertoire.

Nikon 16mm f/2.8D AF Fisheye Nikkor review by andre_

I didn't like this lens on D2x. The definition is not enough for a print photo. But with my D700 the 16mm fisheye is fantastic! I don't see any cromatic aberration, nor flare (and the flare's critic in a lot of conditions), and the definition is high from f4.

no flare; no CA

actually none; only a little distorsion :-

I bought this lens after looking at the 14mm and a few other options. I love this lens it gives you so many fun possibilities. I always carry it with me for just about a anything and everything use. The focus is fast the color and contrasts are good, super in low light.

Nice view with tack sharpness and fast focus

None that come to mind

WOW !!! I bought this for a toy.... and now it is one of my fav lens... and with the D1x the distortion is small I hardley use a wide lens now except this and will probably sell my others... this is by far the most forgiving lens i have ever had ! WOW

Crisp bright and vivid eye popping color

A recyclable Nikkor -good thing, or bad

[...]. I still, now, would have preferred to have my much older, slower and bought secondhand original Nikkor.Optically, it is fine though comparisons with other lenses almost impossible as there's only two available and one simply doesn't buy a fisheye lens again.

Lightweight; Sharp Focus

Recyclabe; Weak Casing
