"I didn't really expect as much from this lense when I first bought it. But I wanted something a bit wider to shoot than 50mm. I brought it to a concert thinking ""oh, it's not going to be as sharp as my 50mm 1.4, but I need something wider."" So I went for it.
This is surely a must have lens especially if you want to take portrait pictures of your kids.....blur/bokeh is superb and performs very well in low light conditions. A all time lens for my Nikon D5200.......

If you're a Nikon shooter and you've been contemplating buying a reasonably priced, professional prime lens, you should give serious consideration to the new NIKKOR AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G. What makes this lens so special?
As I indicated at the beginning of this review, I am probably a little biased in favor of prime lenses when it comes to photography. Until someone discovers a way to make an affordable zoom lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.4 there will always be a place for prime lenses.
