Raspberry Pi 400 Review

Harking back to the early days of computing, the Raspberry Pi 400 is a computer built into a keyboard. Giving you everything you need in one simple plug-in-and-go package makes it really easy to get started with Pi projects. It's great to see the 40-pin GPIO port for projects, and you only miss out on the camera and display interfaces. For those looking for a simpler Pi or wanting a quick way to get started, this is a great addition to the line-up.

Simple all-in-one computer; Handles cooling well; GPIO port;

No camera or display interface;

Love this new addition to the pi family

Having brought the 3B+, 2 gig pi 4 and 8 gig pi (all from PBTech) I eagerly awaited the arrival of the pi 400 in NZ after watching all the reviews on you tube. I got my pi 400 for Xmas (actually got a PBTech gift voucher as COVID delayed its arrival). It does not disappoint. It is my desktop machine enabling to work from home, surf the web, watch videos and learn programming. Set up is a breeze and using PINN OS I can boot into multiple operating systems. All run smoothly and with the help of an ribbon extension cord the sense hat is easy to use. I would recommend getting this unit for your kids when they ask for a new tablet.

Incredible functionality and value

It blows my mind that with just the addition of an SD Card and an old monitor (or TV) you can get a full desktop computer for just over $100. The default Raspberry Pi OS is just fine, but I prefer to download the 64-bit Ubuntu desktop. If you or your kids want to learn computing and/or programming this is just fantastic. If you're new to Raspberry Pi buy the starter kit instead. The included book is excellent and well worth the upgrade all by itself.
