For shooting video this is my go to lens. I use it for probably 80% of the stuff that I shoot. The Tamron equivalent is also optically nice but the build quality doesn't feel nearly as sturdy/smooth as the Sigma and as I'm shooting video on Canon bodies the fact that the Tamron is backwards is a big...

Great all purpose midrange zoom

This Sigma lens, which can only be used on DX bodies, is a very versatile lens with few drawbacks.

The best sub-$700 stabilized f/2.8 midrange zoom

No full time manual focus

A versatile lens

I bought my Canon EOS 7D as a body-only, eschewing the standard kit lens for my own collection of glass. For a long time, the lens that was almost permanently glued to the camera was a 35mm f/2 prime, with a 28-300mm as a typical walkabout alternative.

Consistent Output; Durable; Quick Focus; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction

Word of warning - my lens was purchased from Amazon UK, unfortunately the serial number is not an official UK import so it does not qualify for a UK warranty according to Sigma, sadly l have had to return it for a refund, a shame as it's a great little lens - very happy with the photos taken.

Amazing lens for its price point. Very sharp

For those who are looking for a pro lens at wide angle zone, this lens fits the bill perfectly. I have a T1i and was looking fr a good upgrade from my kit lens. The other options are Canon 17-55 and Tamron 17-50.

Pleasing Results, Very Good Quality

Picked up one of these used on eBay. It's a crap shoot when you buy a used lens, especially a third party brand, but Sigma has a good reputation, and online reviews of this model are very decent. Price is steep for a third-party lens, but picture quality is very good, especially between 28 and 50mm.
