Brilliant little camera, far better than the cheap GoPro copies and not much more money than some of those. Same issue as GoPros with the lens misting up when in water, but that is really the only downside.
A lot of buzz echoed through the adventure film world upon the announcement of the Sony line of Action Cameras, and for good reason. Sony's upstanding reputation (like in their award winning

I bought this for filming while snowboarding and it produced amazing results. For a high impact activity like that the image stabilisation was a godsend, it worked really well, not sure why you would want to buy a camera without it to be honest.
Full HD recording; image stabilisation; NFC connection to app; phone remote connection
Case was a bit fiddly at times but thats being very picky; Rear cover/hatch sliding mechanism was a bit flimsy but then the camera is 99.9% of the time to be used within the case so its not much of an issue
Sony's first action camera was a bold move for the company, dipping into a space dominated by two big players: GoPro and Contour. A year on, and with one competitor leaving the market altogether (Contour), the action and sports camera market is slimming down.
Effective image stabilisation; Simple operation; Good still image quality
Video quality isn't as good as the GoPro; Lens sharpness drops off towards the sides of the frame
So far this has been a great camera. 1080p at 60 fps is FANTASTIC and better than you'll find from equally priced competitors. The image stabilization has been fantastic, better than what I've seen in GoPro footage. I have not found the GPS useful so far, but I can say it works even indoors.
1080p at 60 fps can't be beat for the same money; Sony has more experience and does a better job of image stabilization than anyone
Inability to mount bare camera to a tripod; The competitors have more mounts and accessories available as of now; This may change as Sony continues to sell more and more of these and continue to use the same housing
He loved it.. he still loves it. It's been biking, cliff diving and even in the new Ford GT sports car at Miami Speedway. This camera takes amazing footage.. Even with the newer models.. After seeing what this one is accomplishes.. I'd still make the same choice
Purchase it for my ATV riding. Very happy with the price tag as well. Works very good, picture and sound as good as it can get on small recorder as this.
After reading about multiple problems with the GoPro Hero 3 camera, I looked to find a better alternative. Watched videos and read reviews on the Sony Action Cam HDR-AS30V. GPS function that shows where you were, how fast you're going and distance traveled. Simple instructions and functions.
I love this camera, i use it on my motorcycle Helmet and has took some amazing footage for me, altho a SD card is NOT included fitting a 64gb will get you almost 6 hours on the highest quality setting and double that on the lower.
slo mo; good quality stills; great video; wifi transfer; nothing
