Much greater than I expected

I bought this for my wife, who's not great at swapping lenses and likes taking candid shots. I imagined that the quality would be compromised by the zoom range and limited apeture. Decided to try it myself one day when she was at work, and honestly amazed by the results!

Great Picture Quality; Lightweight; Simple Controls

The Big Easy

I had a Tamron of similar range for my last non digital Minolta SLR. Despite being assured my lenses would fit my Sony Alpha, if at slightly different f numbers, I was unhappy to find that that particular lens did not cross over.

Great do-it-all lens

The quality of this lens surpassed my expectations! Light-weight and compact, with very good sharpness in the centre, as well as a quiet and fast auto focus. VC works a treat and have had NO dud photos after 100 test shots.

Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC Piezo Lens [REVIEW]

When I review lenses I take a look at who they are built for. I realize not every DPS reader wants to lug around a 5lb lens worth a couple month's rent. While I love my main lens, it's not for everyone and I'd be a fool to tell you you should buy it if you just want a portrait lens.

Good overall lens

Good overall lens. Auto focus is very slow compared with my previous Nikon 18-200 mm lens. Not an ideal lens for fast action shots. I use my camera often to take shots at our grandchildrens' soccer games. Focus is also a bit soft and not crisp as the Nikon lens.

One lens for most occasions.

I was looking for a lens that I could attach to my D5200 to meet the requirements for most occasions, so I did not have to carry several lens all the time. This lens does everything I was looking for, excellent! Auto focus works well, lens is not too heavy and easy to attach.

Tamron 18–270mm F/3.5–6.3 Di II VC PZD Lens

Tamron's 18–270mm Di II lens has been designed for photographers entering the DSLR market after shooting with compact cameras with 10–15x zoom lenses, or for travel photographers looking for an all-in-one lens to avoid swapping lenses on their trip.

Impressive image quality (normal to short telephoto; Excellent resistance to flare; Effective vibration correction system

Slow; occasionally indecisive autofocus; Geometric distortion across much of the zoom range; Chromatic aberration at wide and telephoto

It replaced 3 Canon Lenses

The lens was a Christmas gift from my wife. I was very happy with its low light capability and its sharpness. I use a Canon EOS 2T and this lens is replacing 3 Canon Lenses.

Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Fast / accurate auto-focus

Heavy; Needs Low Light Improveme

Bought it for a safari

I got this lens before going to Africa for a month and as I was hiking and going on traditional safaris I wanted a lens that would not only help me take fantastic pictures but was also compact enough it didn't get in the the way or take up to much space.

Easy to use; Compact; Build quality
