Good

This lens is great for the money you pay. I've taken many great photos with it on vacation and around town. It is also very compact and light. While it is not an ideal lens to shoot Birds in Flight due to its slow auto-focusing it is great for general photos and portraits.

Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 LD Di macro (Pentax K) - Review / Lab Test Report

The Tamron is obviously a low budget lens - locally it sells for just ~130€ - it does hardly get any cheaper than this. However, it is amazing that Tamron didn't really sacrifice too much build quality.

Nice for the price

I purchased this as a gift. This is a pretty good entry level tele zoom. Low light performance suffers without a monopod or tripod, and the af is slow sometimes, especially in low light, but pre-focus manually first, not a problem getting sharp images.

Very sharp even wide open

No IS; Plastic mount

Love this lens

I love this lens, yes it is slow in low light conditions but on a daylight it is perfect, sharp and great zoom. Also macro mode is very good.

Durable; Lightweight; Nice Bokeh; Sharp Cheap Macro

Noisy Slow In Low Light; Poor in Low Light

Inexpensive but good

I wanted a longer lens for my Canon, but I knew I wouldn't use it enough to justify buying L-glass or some other high-priced lens. This fit the bill and what arrived was just what I wanted -- a lens that I could pull out to meet a special need, even if it didn't have the optical quality of another...

Easily Interchangeable; Lightweight; Strong Construction

No Image Stabilization

Tamron 70-300mm telephoto lens

Great lens for enthusiasts and beginners, but if you want a really good quality lens and you have a big budget, then spend a bit more on something else.

good value; light weight; good macro mode

focusing is a bit slow and noisy; doesnt feel very robust

Tamron AF 70-300mm f4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

I'm brand new to the photography but I am hooked! After getting my XSi from my husband for Christmas the natural next step was to buy lens. It's hard to afford the lens's direct from Canon so after monitoring several forums I decided this was the next best step.

Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro

A telephoto lens covering the popular 70-300mm range with Low Dispersion glass and a built-in 1:2 Macro feature.

Lightweight; Resolution at shorter focal lengths; Macro feature; Good value for money; Good resistance to ghosting and flare

Slow autofocus; Rotating front element may make it difficult to use a polariser

Tamron 70-300mm telephoto lens

"The Tamron 70-300mm telephoto lens is an entry level telephoto and macro lens aimed at people who are new to DSLRs... I got this lens at Jessops as part of my camera bundle, so i originally only paid about £100.00 for it.

good value; get what you expect; decent macro mode; large focal range for the price

less than brilliant focusing :  a bit noisy and slow; manual focus ring is a bit smooth

Great 1st Lens

This Lens dose everything it says it will. This is a great lens to have if you only want to carry one lens as it as a macro function for the tiny close ups as well as a 300mm zoom for those long distance shots. This is my new favourite lens.
