I recently purchased this lens because I wanted a fast (f/2.8), quality wide-angle zoom for my Nikon D90. I couldn't justify forking out the money for the brand-name lens so I did a whole lot of homework and opted for this Tokina lens.

Announced in July 2010, Tokina's AF 16-28mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro SD FX is the first in a new generation of ultra-wide angle lenses for cameras with 35mm-sized imagers. There's no point in buying this lens for a camera with an APS-C sized sensor because it's big and bulky and there are plenty of lighter...

The 16-28 f/2.8 uses a newly developed silent DC motor that allows the lens to focus faster and more quietly then previous generations. The DC motor coupled with a new GMR magnetic AF sensor work together to increase AF Speed.

Tokina did a great job with this lens. Debated a long time over Nikon 17-35mm - but landed here. I previously owned the Nikkor 14-24mm, so carrying this around is no problem. save your money over Nikon. Newest version has nice cap and ass gasket.

Value for money really good. Filters work well, but want to build a holder itself. Low-priced Chinese Cokin X model.
