The first copy of this lens had issues with auto-focus, and I returned it. Then I got another copy from Amazon and it works PERFECT. This is definitely not a L lens, but it's perfect for video shooters, because 1) it has STM 2) it has IS. Enough said.
tHIS LENS WORK WELL WITH THE LENS HOOD AND THE FILTERS.
Lightweight; Sharp Focus
I bought this because I wanted a lens in this range and couldn't afford the L lens. I've been thrilled with it. Focus is quick and accurate. Images are sharp and crisp. It's now got about 10,000 shots on it and it's still as responsive and crisp as it was the first day.
Great image quality; fast focus; reasonable price
Some CA above about 90mm but it's minor enough that you have to go looking for it, as a rule; I've only noticed it on an item that had black and white checks, and one side of the black checks had small purple fringing; I didn't notice it until I was looking at the image full size on my computer
SLRgear Review January 5, 2015 by Andrew Alexander Canon released the EF 24-105mm ?'/3.5-5.6 IS STM in September of 2014, complementing its widely popular 24-105mm ?'/4L . The lens features Canon's new STM (stepping motor) autofocus system, making it very useful for movie-making with its near-silent...
The Canon EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM is a surprisingly capable standard zoom lens that will appeal most to photographers looking for a lightweight and responsive lens that won't cost the earth, and is a real alternative to the more expensive, 10-year-old Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM.
Shooting with a full-frame DSLR is a costly business, and this goes beyond the price of the body alone. If you shoot with an APS-C camera but are tempted by the relatively low cost of, for example, Canon's EOS 6D or the Nikon D610, don't fall into the trap of thinking that your expenditure stops...
Full frame cameras have become much more affordable over the past couple of years, with models such as the Canon 6D now costing just £1200, and at last there's a lens to match in the form of the Canon 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM.
The 24-105mm zoom range is popular with photographers because it can cover a wide range of subject types and situations so we thought it would be useful to look at a one of the new versions of the original EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, which was released just over a decade ago to complement Canon's first...
