I shoot landscape, animal and grandkids with this lens. It is easy to focus, takes very clear pictures and gives the extra power needed for the photos taken within 30ft.
Consistent Output; Easily Interchangeable; Fast / accurate auto-focus

The Canon EF 28-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM is a standard zoom lens. The optical system in the lens uses glass-mold aspherical lenses and has lens construction of 16 elements in 12 groups.
Excellent walk around lens for those that dont' go the 'L' glass route. Great flexible focal range, and takes nice shots. It's on my camera most of the time. I did have an opportunity to take some shots with an L glass lens and compare it with this lens, and there was not a huge difference, but then...
Fast / accurate auto-focus; Nice Bokeh; Consistent Output; good focal range
Slightly loose end barrel
If you are on a budget, but want an overall good lens that will give you sharp pictures for the price, then this is the lens to buy. If you can only purchase one lens go with one with image stabilization (IS) you will be happier and have fewer blurry pictures.
Wide range of zoom positions and has IS
Not great for low light pictures
I shoot video professionally with my 5D Mlll. This lens is light and good for personal travel. If it got beat up or dinged its not a heartbreak.
This lens looks on the surface to be a great all-purpose lens, and at first the pictures looked a step up from my Canon PowerShot A720IS 8MP Digital Camera with 6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom. It has image stabilization, and a good range, I thought it would be a good general purpose lens.
This is the best walkaround/travel lens for fullframe users. I prefer this than the more expensive 24-105L. Yes, the L-series will give you (slightly) better results, but for more money and weight (duh). I love this lens because of the portability.
price; focal range; IS; light
none
It is my go to lens that I keep on the camera all the time. Great for close up shot but will zoom in great for the shot across the way as well. The only drawback in my opinion is it is a heavy lens but I think it has to do with the great construction of the lens (not a cheap plastic lens in anyway).
The AF mechanism is internal and employs an efficient (USM) that leaves the focusing ring undisturbed in automatic mode but with the option of full-time manual focusing intervention if this is required.
Great all-rounder
Cheeky "macro" designation
I believe you have to look for a good copy. Love the range on the 1.6 crop. Very seldom do I have to switch out lenses for a wedding, except of course wide angle and low light.
Sharp; IS works well; good walk around lens for the money
A little light fall off; Zoom loose after heavy use
