When someone is looking for a decent quality but very affordable walk-around lens , the Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens is one of the lenses I will often recommend to them.

I believe you have to look for a good copy. Love the range on the 1.6 crop. Very seldom do I have to switch out lenses for a wedding, except of course wide angle and low light.

The Stabalizer is awesome for those long hand-held zooms that are dificult to hold steady. (but my gyro sometimes vibrates) The focus and zoom rings are what I expect from the best. I love the manual focus override when in AF Mode. This is the perfect all purpose lens for my new 400D.

This is the best lens I have tried to date with my new Canon D60. I get a lot of shots of people from far enough away that they are totally unaware I am shooting a candid shot.

Released in early 1998 the Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 USM IS was the first standard SLR zoom lens featuring an image stabilization (IS) mechanism. Using its IS capabilities the camera motion is detected by 2 gyro sensors which measure the angle and speed of the shake.

I am stunned at the image quality this lens has produced for me. Action shots are crystal clear thanks to IS which is extremely quiet compared to my other Canon lenses. And indoor shots without a flash are a breeze, thanks to the 3.5 aperture and IS.

I own a Canon Rebel XTi an entry-level SLR and I purchased this lens hoping I can use it as an all around lens, but I quickly realized this is probably not going to be so. If you, like me, own a half-frame camera, you will probably want to consider getting an additional lens to cover the wide-angle...

The is an excellent lens for the price. If you are looking at getting an image stablized lens this is a good choice. This lens has been in Canon's inventory for a while, and I expect it to remain that way. I've used this lens to photograph my daughter as well as outdoors and macro shooting.

A strong lens for light but serious travel photography on crop digital. I match it with the Tokina 12-24 f4(an excellent lens) and get 19-200+ range on the digital Rebel, with IS on the upper end.

Good range; decent sharpness; can be used on film cameras; too

Some zoom creep; Not super small; can pick up dust
