Excellent walkaround lens

Excellent walk around lens for those that dont' go the 'L' glass route. Great flexible focal range, and takes nice shots. It's on my camera most of the time. I did have an opportunity to take some shots with an L glass lens and compare it with this lens, and there was not a huge difference, but then...

Consistent Output; Fast / accurate auto-focus; good focal range; Nice Bokeh

Slightly loose end barrel

Good starter lens

This is a good starter lens that allows the user to get used to using their camera with little to worry about with the lens. It has good resolution even at the extremes of the zooming.

Great all around lens!

It is my go to lens that I keep on the camera all the time. Great for close up shot but will zoom in great for the shot across the way as well. The only drawback in my opinion is it is a heavy lens but I think it has to do with the great construction of the lens (not a cheap plastic lens in anyway).

Was my first lens.. Used it for almost 3 years until I sold it for my 17-40. Great entry level lens.. Nice lens for the price.

Great focal range .; Great IS.; Nice price and great entry level lens; USM & FTM.

Build quality not good - When you face the lens downwards, it extends! Wobbles while zooming.; 72mm filter - not a standard! 28mm is too restrictive on a APS-C for general purpose

Love my Canon Lense

I love the size of this lense because I can take great pictures even when I'm already close to the subject. These were 'quick' shots. As you know, babies don't stay in the same position for long.

Excellent mdi-range zoom

We bought this lens to go with my wife's EOS 500D as we didn't fancy the kit lenses on offer with the camera body. It proved to be a wise choice. Landscape and other wide-angled applications are not really her field of interest so the zoom range is ideal.

Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Quick Focus; Rugged; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction
